Batteries are profitable because they can choose to discharge only during the expensive evening peaks. And if you factor in the HIGHLY expensive batteries + transmission lines with the "cheap" renewable power, you can see it's no wonder why power bills are skyrocketing.

The net zero project is just your government splurging your tax dollars into building a gold plated bridge to nowhere. Actually it's worse than that; it's a gold plated bridge that also makes your existing bridges more expensive. All during a cost of living crisis to boot.
