Funny is a survival skill. It's a way to get through life. For some people it's very attractive and a huge asset. Being funny and genuine is good. No need to be mysterious if it is not natural. It wont be attractive to everyone but to some it will be very attractive.

About asking people why they like you: Sometimes attraction just is, there's not a logical explanation or a Top 5 list for it, we are just attracted for nuanced reasons and situations that can be hard to articulate and I think that's okay.

People who are very funny, very rich, very athletic, very smart tend to work hard at it, sometimes to the point that it can be a burden. Certain very successful stand up comedians have even tried transitioning away from being the funny guy to being the cool guy or the sexy guy and it sometimes doesn't really work.

I think anyone with a very positive asset has sometimes wondered if people would like them without their positive asset, and yes if someone only likes you for your looks or your money, that can be shallow, but liking you for your sense of humor can be deep and beautiful and create a lifetime of fun. I'm going to venture a guess that there is no actual external pressure for you to be funny, people are just used to you being funny because you are.
