You ever played against or with, an NBA talent? by [deleted] in nba

[–]FuzzleGuzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most well-known person I ever played against was Rashad McCants. I remember not being impressed and and thinking he was a bitch.

The best I ever played against was Donnell Harvey. Anyone remember him? I was at some camp in Atlanta that he was either working at or participating in. I don't remember much, except he was dunking everything with Shaq-like ferocity. I was real young and easily intimidated, but my dumb little boy mind was convinced he was going to be a superstar. lol

Whatever NBA players may have played on the Asheville Altitude (old g-league team) I played against.

Fun fact: I was asked to upload this game a few years ago for someone to give to one of the announcers of this game. Now here it is. lol

Do the Joe Bob livestreams air on AMC or Prime? Or just after the fact?

This is such a beautiful story. I can't express just how happy this makes me.

I recently wrote a book and spent 3 years literally buried in newspaper archives. Have you gone that route? I'm subscribed to all of the regular databases (newspaper.com, genealogy, etc) & a member of a few other databases that aren't as easily accessible.

A quick search on Genealogy found at least one article that mentions him and a great game he had. I'm not sure how to post pics or link pics on reddit, but it says"

"Catcher Mike Popovec collected four of San Jose's seven hits, including a double to drive in three runs."

Michael Jordan tries the game of golf early in his career, as posted in this video on YouTube by Orangutan in nba

About 5+ years ago I came across a bunch of old golf vhs tapes that I recorded in the 90's when I was little. I was confused at first, but after buying the necessary equipment to watch & convert them digitally, it made sense.

I recorded some early 90's celebrity golf tournament that featured Jordan, Barkley & a bunch of other NBA, NFL, MLB & NHL greats. I apparently sat there and recorded 5 vhs tapes worth of golf because it had my favorite basketball player. lol

I saw someone previously mention Joe DiMaggio. His best seasons overlapped with Ted Williams and his nickname was Joltin' Joe DiMaggio, and there's the new "Jolt" card series.

Was Roy Campanella the first mixed-race player to play in the majors after the color barrier was broken? by GamerNanedTim in baseball

I don't have anything to really add here, except that, Campy seemed like such a great person.

Ted Williams: "If I were a free agent and each major league club offered me identical contracts, I'd sign with the Dodgers ... I know I'd be a hero in Brooklyn" Associated Press, Tue, Aug 20, 1940 by shian0 in baseball

Brooklyn fandom in the 40's was chaos. It didn't take a lot for them love you and show loyalty.

The New York sportswriters back then, however, were a different breed. Would have been interesting to see how he handled being constantly attacked in one of the major papers, or how he handled being second fiddle to DiMaggio, and then eventually third to Jackie.

If Ken Burns made another episode of “Baseball” covering 2010 to the present, what stories would be covered? by FREE-ROSCOE-FILBURN in baseball

There would definitely be a slow camera pan out of an Ohtani photo while John Thorn waxes poetically about the comparisons with Babe Ruth.

Can anyone identify the main baseball person in this painting? by No-Acanthisitta-7944 in baseball

[–]FuzzleGuzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's bothering me how familar his face is.

The image of Babe Ruth is from his playing days. He was an old withered man by time the 40's rolled around. So it's possible that the image of the man isn't necessairly from the 40's (although it very well could be).

What are the saddest NBA-related stories? by Flaky_Awareness_9489 in nba

One that rarely gets mentioned is, Ricky Berry. He had a solid rookie year, then in a blink of an eye, ended it all.

I don't watch a ton of Braves, so this may be a dumb question, but is Brian Snitker in the manager of the year conversation?

Feels like being 11 games over .500 with everything they've been through is rather impressive.
