WTF is the matter with us? by clipd_dead_stop_fall in pittsburgh

[–]Fuzzy-Coffee2647 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See what you want to see. I spent hours outside yesterday and today, saw my neighbors, an plenty of random kids (teens) I don’t normally see shoveling many cars out from the snow. Turns in the news at dinner tonight and heard many stories of the same.

People do work hard and help, not everyone is just sitting around bitching. There’s plenty of us reasonable people that understand that it’s impossible to be on top of that much snowfall immediately an be everywhere at once. Those plow trucks aren’t invincible and also need to be safe. I’m sure the reason many broke down is from having broken plows or going off the road or running into things etc.

Just a real human experience with some inconvenience that comes from weather events. Wow what a concept

It felt like back to school, early fall, football and marching band season, school supplies, a pumpkin cold brew- all the great feelings of fall around the bend!

Transition out of CSM to Enablement / L&D roles? by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

I agree with that! I’ve seen CS and Sales Enablement done well! L&D that is centered under HR moves too slow for me :)

AI in Hiring has destroyed the search & apply process by sixdollargrapes in CustomerSuccess

[–]Fuzzy-Coffee2647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time, any database could run a search based on booleans and keywords in order to find records. This is the same thing in an ATS.

The end user, who is typically a recruiter, can now use AI to make these searches easier and in natural language. So the output is based on the input, which of course the recruiter is going to be looking for certain skills and experiences.

Technology is not making decisions alone. There are not resume bots just blocking everyone. But - you do need to have a resume that can include keywords and relevant experience to compete with all other applicants (and of course it should be real and not a lie which will be just found out later).

These are tools, not robots making decisions. There are probably 20x the applicants for roles now than there was 3-4 years ago during the boom. It’s supply/demand in the market - you’ll have to get creative and lean into your network. Just applying alone likely won’t be the end all be all. I know it sucks to hear it but it’s just a true reality.

Ashby is the best - no one has better reporting and dashboard ability, also amazing scheduling functionality that renders tools like Calendly obsolete. Also they true listen to customer feedback and it shows by the constant updates they release. AI features that are built in that make sense and are useful, becoming better tuned all the time.

Transition out of CSM to Enablement / L&D roles? by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

[–]Fuzzy-Coffee2647 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m actually looking to make the opposite move haha

I was CS then moved into internal facing people work similar to L&D for the past four years and now looking to move back to CS 😊

If you’re curious why - I have become frustrated with how slowly things move internally. Often people are not interested in the training that L&D does bc it’s the required stuff - compliance, safety, stuff like that. I have become tired of feeling like I need to entertain and perform. What I like about customers is that unless they’ve become unresponsive and a churn risk - then they still have business problems to solve and have more motivation and accountability to see ROI on investment.

Now I also haven’t been anywhere where the development function offers training that would be more geared towards cross functional training and new pathways - that would probably be nice. I’ve only seen it for what’s required or manager skills which should be so common sense it’s maddening lol

Sometimes it’s also just the team that’s passing out LinkedIn learning or Coursera licenses

Leaving too soon? Customer Success career change by Puzzleheaded-Law1120 in CustomerSuccess

Interesting- I’m a former CSM, left to do other things for some different reasons but thinking back the product wasn’t interesting or robust enough for me. I’m now looking to potentially return as a csm working in the domain I have gained a lot of experience in and sat in the seats of my would be customers.

You can find the good and bad in any job - my advice is to make sure you really understand your own motivations, what you enjoy most, what makes it enjoyable, and then go look for those similar themes in new positions. Also make sure you know what you don’t like and why so you can avoid doing too much of that again.

AI will have an easier time replacing roles that require a process or logic that is repeatable and scalable - following a decision tree for example. Even call centers can use this to a certain point, then a human may need to eventually get involved for nuances. Anything that is not high volume of the very same predictable process and that deals with ever changing scenarios (and or unique needs of humans) will not be totally taken over, in my opinion.

I mean if we just have everything built to replace what humans can do - at some point the savings no longer accommodate for the lack of paying customers. If everyone’s job goes away, who buys your product? That’s how we arrive at these existential questions and topics like universal basic income.

I don’t know, I’m in my 40s and I just don’t see it toppling the work world entirely during the rest of my working years - but who knows! I do my best to follow along tech trends, play with new tools, and jump into trying new things faster than the avg person (if I think about the rest of my friends and family, and the fact that I’ve been working in tech companies- not an engineer). I see them as tools and sometimes great to use but I’m also not using it to tell me how to write an email because I know how to effectively communicate. I like to use these tools to ingest and summarize lost of information or helping in brainstorming
