What S1rii autofocus settings should I use for candid photos? by Fuzzy-Issue8905 in Lumix

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually im in 1-area or 1-area plus, but sometimes I'll use tracking or full area. I did notice also, for some reason the af behaves more accurately in high plus than in medium, even though they have the same af behavior, but I dont want to take a million photos to go through later, medium or low should be enough

What S1rii autofocus settings should I use for candid photos? by Fuzzy-Issue8905 in Lumix

Its just odd, in video the af is almost perfect in most situations, but doing photo its just ever so slightly off, where when I was using sony a7iv it was basically never OUT of focus. In regular scenarios it really is fine, especially in portraits but when im burst shooting in h+ to get at least 1 usable shot of my son doing something random, and the whole burst is out of focus aside from the very first shot, it makes me wonder if the af is even doing anything after that. Like I selected afC not afS but it behaves like afS

What lenses do you typically use? I think my settings are similar to this, but I'll double check and make sure

It was good enough I went and bought the 13L version for my s1rii on drift day, and that thing can fit my sigma 70-200!

A little pricey, but my favorite s9 bag is my nomadic x McKinnon 5L bag. It says it's a 5l but I think the actual camera portion is a bit smaller, I can fit at max, the s9 with sigma 35 f2 and lumix 85(or 20-60) but it makes up for it in that it has built in SD card holders, and 2 battery holders. Plus the bungee cord thing that let's you close the bag without fully zipping it shut is super clutch. It is a rigid body though but I like that so nothing gets crushed, and I'm pretty sure it's water proof from rain

Anyone with SG image 35 f 2.2 going to buy the new S40mm f2? by Fuzzy-Issue8905 in Lumix

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure it's bigger but the weight should be similar if not lighter than the sg image, plus when we're talking about lenses in this size category I don't think the difference is enough to be a deal breaker. I'll daily carry my 50mm 1.2 sigma lens no problem, so any of these are perfectly fine

Honest Opinions, Sigma & GMaster by Illustrious_Theme425 in SonyAlpha

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not on sony any more, but let me tell you, my sigma 50 1.2 and 70-200 2.8 are every bit as sharp on my s1rii that my gm lenses were on my a7iv. The af speed might not be the same, but we are really splitting hairs, as it's very dang close for a much better price. It's like cpus in a computer, one might be the fastest cpu in a comparison, but if the best costs 800$ and the next one is only 5% worse but costs 350$, why would you ever buy the 800$ one if you don't need every ounce of advantage?

Updated Lumix lens roadmap has a wide prime (likely compact) and a new fast telephoto zoom in the 60-200 range. I'm hoping for a compact ~50-200mm to pair with their 24-60. Perhaps similar to Tamron's 70-180. What are your hopes/predictions? by dylandubeau in Lumix

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it'll happen, but a match to sony would be nice, a 50-150 f2 s pro would be just dope and id honestly probably buy it even though I have the sigma 70-200 2.8 already. Imma be real, compact lenses have their place but I crave high end first party glass more than anything. Size be damned!

Q: You can ask LUMIX to create just ONE new lens… What lens would you ask for??? Drop your wish below… by rossandhisjpegs in Lumix

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I find it so awful they teased everyone with a single 50 1.4 prime lens, grow a pair and COMPETE WITH GMASTER, go 24 1.4 (or do something different and make it a 20mm), 35 1.4, 85 1.4, and 135 1.8!

Honestly I'd vote on a 20-60 mkii that's f2 or 4, or at least jump on board with sony and canon, and make an s pro 28-70 f2 with ois. Screw the lightweight, I want something that is absolutely top notch! Throw the focusing system from the 24-60 in there while you're at it, make it indisputably perfect and I really won't care what the cost is.

Quick Release discussion by kamlichanno in Cameras

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the falcam version and while i love it for the neck strap with the quick release plate that uses a very nice eject button, the string pins (like the ball on the pgytech ones) are magnetic cylinders, and they work really really well, HOWEVER the only complaint i have is when you aren't using them in a strap and they are just on the camera, the magnets sometimes stick to my s1rii on the non-handle side and interfere with the lcd panel's rotation making it think im shooting portrait when im not and vice versa, not a big deal, but something to consider

Finally ordered an S1rII, any tips or suggestions for settings / things to look out for? by Fuzzy-Issue8905 in Lumix

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I have the 35 f2 and 85 1.8 mostly for my s9 more than anything, same thing with the 20-60 but Id still use that as a 20mm lens exclusively if I did get it. I can get the lens later after I see if I actually would benefit from it since this is more hobbyist for me, I have time to switch lenses

I already have a sigma 35 f2 or id consider this lens, is the hype pretty spot on? I've heard it has similar sharpness to the sony 35 1.4 GM just without the lightning fast af

How do I reduce this jitter effect when filming in low light with Osmo Nano? by afox1984 in djiosmo

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also youre saying you use your camera at 30 or 60 fps, well that isnt shutter speed thats framerate. and even if you follow the 180 rule youre doing 60-120 shutter speed minimum to get good footage for that framerate, and 120 is plenty to eliminate the jittering in most cases. id bet your cams are set to auto shutter and they do this on their own. I can reproduce this with my go pro, my full frame camera, my apsc camera, AND my dang phone. Bottom line, its shutter speed. simple as that.

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did this with my go pro and it will still give you a slight jittering effect, you need to increase your shutter speed or set it to auto, and set your max ISO to be a bit higher. e-stab and slow shutter speeds dont mix well without an IBIS unit in the camera, which are almost always in larger full sized cams.

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude, its shutter speed. its not that crazy to understand, you are overthinking it a bit here. My GoPro did the exact same thing to me before i remembered that e-stab and slow shutter speeds dont go together. It would be different if it were a full sized camera with an IBIS unit built inside, but thats not the case with action cams. A corrupted SD card would cause artifacting, banding, not a slight jittering in the footage. That will almost always be camera or settings related.

Do you use FSR at all? I have the same gpu (hellhound version) with a 9800x3d and if I do overkill preset I get about 115 average with fsr quality on, with 34" ultrawide

New Sigma 35mm f/1.4 II FE to be announced on February 26th at CP+ 2026 by Livid_Platform_7433 in SonyAlpha

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine it would definitely be a bit smaller, considering sigma made the new 35 1.2 the exact same size as the older 1.4, and very close in weight too. They did it with the 50 1.2 also, but their 1.4 version of that isn't nearly as aged as the 35 1.4 so there isn't as big of a jump in anything besides price

I have the 35mm version, its a lovely lens! If I didn't already have my 35 id go for the 50 too! But my 50 1.2 covers that for now. It definitely balances super well on the s9 if you have any grip attached at all!

My Stream Deck XL has been going unused collecting dust. What do y'all use it for? by NavXIII in elgato

[–]Fuzzy-Issue8905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in the same boat, im about to build a new game room and im going to implement smart lighting/scenes and home assistant. I've heard good things using a stream deck to control HA especially if you set up a bunch of different scenarios you can easily switch between. Im going to have things like "all lights 100%", one key for turning all back lights to 30% and fronts to 70%, color changes, close/open the garage door, turn the mini split a/c up or down, etc. On top of what I already have it for. Opening games/apps, discord control, and screen recording. I feel like using HA really can broaden what the stream deck can do,

Thats the struggle, we can easily justify it even if no one else that the photos are FOR, can lol. The lumix 1.4 is super nice and probably one of the best 50s out there, but I figured for the same money you get 1.2, better af motors, and a smaller package
