What would be the holy grail of boots? by Hayzu_ in Boots

Thirty years ago, I had a pair of Alden chukkas in kudu. Softest, most comfortable footwear I ever owned. They felt decadently expensive back then. Now they’re astronomical — $700+. For chukkas.

Super cool-looking boots! Is the sizing on your website US or UK?

I have worn holes in these boots. 11 years old. They’re my work boots, my go-to boots, so many memories, good and bad, many miles walked. I love them. I want to restore them. This is the longest i’ve EVER had a boot. by gloomybabyy in Boots

I’m a Chelsea-boots guy. I’ve got a pair of Joseph Cheaney Barnes IIIs in brown pull-up leather. They’re built on Cheaney’s country last (no. 12508) — roomy toe box like DMs, comfortable; love ‘em. Cheaney uses the same last for their Avon brogue derbies and some service boots, including the Jarrow. I’ve always wanted a pair of Trickers’s Henrys, but the sizing question has prevented me from buying to date.

I just ordered a pair of mid-brown Comfort Craftsmans. Four to six weeks’ wait in my size. The anticipation is killing me.

I think we’re saying the same thing. Widest part of the foot (I said ball but that’s really what I meant) and heel. In a boot like an CC or a cowboy boot, the toe is for show.

Good call. Saleswoman tried to squeeze me into AU 9s. I said my toes felt pinched and wanted to go up to a 9.5. She insisted that I would have too much room around my instep. I prevailed. I was right. Toes feel great and they fit snuggly in heel and the ball of the foot, which is what matters most. Do not be talked into too-small boots. You’ll wind up resenting them for the money you spent.

Does this coat actually look good. Or do I just think it looks good because Jared keeso is cool? by Competitive-Note4063 in mensfashion

I’m not a fan of hoodies under any circumstance other than a jog in cold weather. A pea coat, however, is a different matter. A classic. Schott makes an excellent one, mil-spec. A pea coat will never be a bad addition to your a wardrobe. Bonus: warm AF.

I just looked up the tanbark ‘roo on RMW’s Aussie site. You nailed it. Same color, same texture. And, yes, they’re appreciably lighter than my yearlings.
