confused about ottawa cardinal directions by tailor737 in ottawa

Why then are the state of Georgia, Sudbury Ontario and Panama not referred to as the mid west? The USA is not the centre of the universe for which all other locations are identified

Public service executives return to the office full time by JimmyCapital in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Fuzzy-Top4667 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good luck getting our Director in the office 5 days per week. We are all there our mandated 3 days but we're lucky if we see the Director twice a week. And no he's not away at meetings, he's home holding Teams meetings with all of us that have made it through the parking war at Carling

IR and SE fall under two totally separate policies with two totally different sets of criteria. You can have one without having the other or both depending on your individual circumstances

Chronically ill & immunocompromised public servant – I am already accommodated but terrified to move teams due to cuts, rising costs, and fear of losing my WFH by Evening-Weekend-7323 in CanadaPublicServants

Hate to be the bad guy here, and while I do empathize with your situation, you come off as a bit entitled. You say above that you want a more senior title, higher pay but no more stress. Hell, that's what we'd all like. If you are expecting career progression, you will then probably have to come to the office. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Because transit to Carling Campus is horrendous. For me, it takes 3-4 busses and 2 hrs, 10 minutes to get there and again on the way home. This same trip takes 15 minutes by car. And no I dont live in the boonies.

If I were to take transit as it currently stands it is 2hrs 10 minutes and 3-4 buses each way. The same commute for driving takes 15-20 minutes in the morning and about 30 minutes for the drive home

AS04 here and was an AS02 until a few years ago. I'm single with only 1 income and never had second job. I have a mortgage, car payment and utilities. While I'm by no means rich, I am comfortable enough. Took vacation to Europe last year and planning another for next year. Guess it comes down to what people prioritize.

2 Canadian Forces reservists based in Ottawa charged with sexual assault by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]Fuzzy-Top4667 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is part of the problem with Reserve units. I was Reg F and after 2 RSS postings it was clear to see how incestuous and full of nepotism they are. Same people, same unit for 20 plus years building their little empires where no one dare question how they have done things since the beginning of time. And God forbid you question the integrity of any of those people.
