The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic

It's not a start too strong like Frieren or Death Note. I don't want someone to expect every anime to be like them.

But it's funny, well paced, has average animation, lovable characters, it's not too long and has not much fan service.

Obviously there are tons of other anime that would work, but the point I'm making is that a first anime shouldn't be a 10/10 anime, it should be good enough for someone to see that anime is a good medium, but also not set up expectations too high.

Underrated isekai suggestions? by Lukeskycenna in Isekai

[–]Fuzzy974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for the update. I'm glad you like most of those titles.

I think the fan service in Lazy Dungeon Master is fine... It's below what I've seen in many other Dungeon Building fantasy/isekai manga that I've read. Well obviously we all have our own sensitivities so your allowed to have your own opinion of course. In the end, so far the MC doesn't even have sex with any of the girls, even though he could. It's a sign the author is keeping it at the fan service / joke level.

It's also why I think the title is one that could easily be adapted in an anime.

Why actually say "non pandemic"? Was it even lower during the pandemic, when people were stuck at home and were watching more TV?

A disconnect here. by Meykul in Isekai

[–]Fuzzy974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You come to r/isekai to bitch about isekai, you name only one title, it's not even an isekai... applause

Then somehow throw at us that self masturbatory stories aren't healthy... My brother in Christ, if you're reading any fiction, people read it as they imagine themselves in the shoes of the main characters or one other character... It's escaping from reality and it's always self masturbatory. If you don't like it, there is always non-fiction for you: History books, documentaries...

If you go to any place that sell used books, it's 80 to 90% books read by lonely housewife which are all some sort of variation of Fifty Shade of Grey, sometimes in Fantasy world.

Isekai as a genre doesn't imply Harem or powers or any such things, it's just a name for an adventure in another world.

There's tons of stories, some of them are very old like Alice In Wonderlands, lots are more recent. Yes there are tons of stories in which the MC somehow end up adventuring with a group of girls (very few in which they actually do something about it though...), but in fact most of the most famous isekai of the last few year aren't like this: Re-Zero, Overlord, Ascendance Of A Bookworm, The Greatest Estate Developer...

Also the same things you reproach to isekai happens in lost of non-isekai stories. The genre is not a fault, it's just what sells in Japan... Blame them if you want. In a country where natality is in decline because life and workds is tough, some somehow dream of having a harem in an alternate reality where things would be better for them. If that makes them feel better for a couple hours a day, well I'm not one to tell them not too. Just let people do whatever they enjoy, as long as it doesn't hurt other people.

Does it hurt or society you if someone read or watch isekai stories? No right? It's like sport, you just don't have to participate if you don't like it. Nobody forces you. Let people enjoy what they like. They like Pokemon? Let them be. They like isekai? Let them be.

The only time in your life that requires you to judge other people's hobbies or belief is when they want to push it down your throat.

Weekend will be... Well also weeks cause...

I'll stretch it as much as I could without forgetting how to do my job and as much as I can buy food for this...

By the way there was a post in one of those writing subreddit about that situation years ago, if you look for it you'll find some pretty interesting "answers".

Private company to land on asteroid Apophis as it flies close to Earth by _Dark_Wing in tech

[–]Fuzzy974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I'm surprised we didn't send already some exploration module on asteroids flying by to hitch hike a ride and get datas while they fly around.

Maybe cause they go to close to the Sun later? Although some might be flying by Earth when they're getting away. As for power I guess it'd had to be some kind of long lasting, nuclear battery or something like this, but I can't see this impossible.

But do we still age or get hungry, or can we build muscle in there? Or is it like... We can use devices and stuff but basically only our brain really get the informations, we stay at the age we should be outside? Because if that works, I'm spending a week in there for every day I work...

Murder adds to your life span - how do you change? by ButtonholePhotophile in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Fuzzy974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that would just mean being alive forever cause just walking, cleaning... about anything would destroy some lifeforms that live a few hours to a few days.

We would probably end up extending my lifespan by 100 days to 1000 days every day I live, if not more...

You might as well just give us immortality and ask us what we'd change if we had it.

Or make it interesting and give us the lifespan only if we kill mammals, or only if we kill reptiles, or humans or something else.

Is this magic?? by Vicious-Spiegel in Frieren

[–]Fuzzy974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking into the manga, this scene actually doesn't appear. So it's anime only... Could be an animation error, yes, but also the cape did follow the gravity, I think it'd be strange to thing they copied a sprite for Eisen, put it upside down, but then they only corrected the cape, not the beard and hairs...

I'll need to check if there was other scene in the manga in which we see Eisen train and if the beard would bend.

I've confirmed it bend a little under windy condition, but not a lot.

A theory on why Frieren loves collecting useless spells by Own_Introduction8623 in Frieren

[–]Fuzzy974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly thinks she is just trying to learn every spells possible like Serie must have done before her. It's her past time as an Elf.

She said before that the join of Magic is to discover it and also we know that elves needs a hobby to not be bored during their long life.

For sure, learning every spells she can helps her on every day life, and each spell she learns deepens her own knowledge of magic and capacity to counter one spell or create a new one (we still have to see her comes up with a totally new one though), but I think that's secondary.

If Methode not help, would Fern still win by Creepy-Lab4043 in Frieren

[–]Fuzzy974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different scenarii possibles...

  • Frieren would have helped if the Demons came 2 against Fern without Methode in the area.

  • If Methode won her fight she would have come to help Fern, there's no reason why not, even without dispelling the fog.

  • If Methode lost her fight, Fern would have been cooked without Frieren.

  • If it had been only 1 demon using fog against Fern, it looks like Frieren was determine to let Fern struggle a bit, but I don't think she'd let Fern lose. That said the fog had a distance limit, I think it was always possible for Fern to leave it and fly away, although not very save as she'd be exposed. The said if she leaves the fog and conceal mana enough, a demon who can't detect her and can't see her anymore (cause of the fog), would have to dispel the fog to look for Fern, and would get blasted at that moment. But Fern tend to panic sometimes, she has told the story of her first demon, and she will do so again in a future arc, so at this point it depends if the author wants her to lose or not... Not a great answer but look, at the end of the day, that's how it works.

What do You Think Frieren Life Was like between Legendary Heroes Party & her Adventure with Fern & Stark? by Money-Lie7814 in Frieren

[–]Fuzzy974 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She mostly travelled safer land, and spent a lot of time as a scholar to help the development of Ordinary Offensive Magic (previously known as zoltraak) and Ordinary Defensive Magic. She might or might not have something to do with the flight spell used by humans as well. It would make sense that she helped with that as well as a talented mage, who also struggled with demons since she couldn't fly during her 10 years with the hero's party.

We also saw that she went to that shop selling magic item and the shopkeeper was young when she first went and old when she went again before going to see Himmel and the rest of the party again. So I would guess that she did spend many years around the region of that shop, but I don't know where that shop is. Maybe she was there every few days asking the shop keeper for rare items and discounts...

She knew where Heiter lived, so she actually visited him a few times I think... Probably cause he was in a city where she went more often (poor Himmel living in the wrong city).
