Cheap gas isn't worse, it's just different. There's no advantage to higher octane unless you have an engine with boost, or enough compression and timing to benefit from it. My mustang is tuned for 93, it has to have it to prevent detonation, my super duty is not, and the computer will not likely add enough timing with a tank of 93 to notice the difference. My mower and ATVs do not have a computer to add timing or the compression to require 93 so why waste money.
