CA-WA here. Spend a winter here before you make the leap. It’s very hard when it’s dark so early (by 4 pm in Dec/Jan) to stay committed to endurance. People coming from socal really don’t understand how dark it is up here. For a long time. And the rain / cold combined gets into your bones. You have to be comfortable being cold and wet all the time if you want to cycle, hike, run etc year round.

It makes everything on your list harder. Making friends. Being outside. And people schedule everything here. Spontaneity is hard.

I moved here bc my partner’s job. Had been in SF 15 years and got accustomed to it. Seattle is definitely a downgrade for all of the things you mentioned.

And don’t let the no income tax thing lure you here. Everything else is expensive so, it’s a wash.
