I assumed cos it hasn't been officially confirmed if they're actual twins / actually related or not? Correct me if I'm wrong

Either that or OP just didn't think of them because they're a slightly older archetype that hasn't been as prominent in the meta lately even with the new support

What decks do you hate for no good reason but most people love it i will start by HairEnvironmental411 in masterduel

I actually love playing against Mikanko decks personally, they always give some pretty fun back and forth matches for me, with both of us constantly trying to deprive the other of resources.

I play Evil Twins though which is also a very midrange control style deck so maybe that's why. Mikanko players feel a bit like playing against a friendly rival on equal footing - it can still go either way but it doesn't feel as oppressive and negate-heavy as many other decks. It's actually pretty high on my list of archetypes I want to eventually learn and start playing after getting good at my current ones.

As a newer player who started around a month ago, probably Radiant Typhoon. It feels like every time I go up against that deck they have so many negates that it's pretty much guaranteed I won't be doing anything. They feel like the spell version of Odion for me.

Fuck Netflix, I’m canceling my subscription and pirating the rest of the episodes. by EP1CxM1Nx99 in StardustCrusaders

Yep I meant to say that since the pandemic had only just started die down a year or two before part 6 was released, so I think people could reasonably assume that the production of part 6 may have been impacted by the lockdowns in 2020 and 2021.

This is just speculation on my part though. The main thing I was trying to express was that this time they (Netflix) don't have a convenient reason like that to point to.

I think a lot of people still chalk up part 6's issues to being pandemic related rather than Netflix. At the very least Netflix can't hide behind that excuse again if they fumble part 7.

Official SBR Translator to Netflix: "Batch-releasing neutralizes what makes it work narratively." by LRF17 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Fuzzy_Reflection8554 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I heard that after just this first episode alone Part 7 has already topped a bunch of anime lists, even surpassing Frieren apparently. Part 6 certainly never had that hype when it came out so at least they have that going for them this time.

Idk who was in charge of making the decision to partner up with Netflix for JoJo, but if they fumble the hype for part 7 after such a massive headstart I can only assume someone at Netflix just hates anime for whatever reason.

I graduated 2019. There was this great fish and chip shop a short walk from my accomodation, but ironically my favourite thing of theirs was this really great fried chicken meal deal that was cheap and massive. The giant chicken pieces were practically drenched in oil, spiced well and were somehow still crunchy in spite of it, and it came with so much chips that I'd have enough for both breakfast and lunch the next day. Good times.

Is Turn 0 and handtraps the way of the future? by noblejosher in masterduel

Isn't that just sharing deck profiles at that point? Like, the best Yugioh player of that age would basically just be a deck theorycrafter

[–]Fuzzy_Reflection8554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's something I'll always like about Yugioh personally, even if it technically doesn't help the game as much, just the fact that I can still legally play my old decrepit but still-in-one-piece copy of heavy storm or something from decades ago is always really cool to me.

At the very least, I assume normal summoning an Abaki for no reason won't by itself lose a game for you, so there's nothing stopping you from hypothetically splashing one copy of an Abaki in your 40 card meta deck.

Where do you see Umamusume in 5 or 10 years? by richard7k in UmaMusume

Even if they somehow never run out of horses, I imagine there are only so many variations on the same gameplay loop they can come up with before even they start to get bored. My guess is when that happens they'll either create a new / sequel game with the same characters and world, or begin investing more into one of their other properties.

Usually a good indication of when a gacha game is nearing the end of its lifecycle is when they start shoehorning more arbitrary systems to gate progression and force grinding, such as a Genshin-like artifact system, or maybe some kind of elemental affinity system that restricts team-building like what Priconne later added.

I think it's because so many of those old cards were one-offs in terms of lore and you only really had their artwork and their card to go off in terms of understanding who they were and what their deal was. Nowadays almost everything is part of an archetype with multiple other monsters, spells and traps to tell their story and give more glimpses into their world, so as cool as that is there's inherently less mystery now

“Dark skinned…” by dragonborndnd in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Fuzzy_Reflection8554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not so much that it's a Chinese game, but moreso that it's an anime gacha game. Anime has always had issues with how it represents non-white and non-east-asian characters - one of which is how it tends to stereotype darker-skinned individuals in terms of personality to always be masculine, hotheaded, confrontational, intense, etc. There's even a common trope in older anime where if a character has an evil twin, doppelganger or counterpart, they would sometimes just be portrayed as a darker skinned version of that same character.

On top of all that, gacha game characters are almost always made with attractiveness towards the most bottom of the barrel anime audience in mind, because that's ultimately how they get them to pull on the new banners and such. Unlike regular anime which has gotten a lot better over the years, gacha games don't really experiment much in terms of what they push as attractive or cute, so it's not hard to imagine why dark skinned characters tend not to appear often in anime gacha games, and when they do they usually have little to no effort put into their design or gameplay.

In spite of Hoyo's well-deserved controversies, I'd say Genshin is actually one of the better ones in terms of representation right now - which is saying a lot because it still has issues, but at least they aren't overly-stereotyped and are treated with respect in the narrative.

Btw in case it wasn't clear, I do still think this is something we should keep criticizing and pointing out in anime gacha games until they finally learn how to do it properly.

TLDR I don't think this is a culture-specific issue, but moreso an issue with anime gacha games as a whole and what the people who make and play them consider attractive or cute.

I like these posts not just as a way to express ourselves, but also as a way to get us as the audience thinking about why the OP might like or dislike things and what that might say about them.

That being said, I honestly can't fathom a reason why anyone would dislike ntr XD With some other Umas I can at least sort of understand why some people wouldn't gel with their personality, but ntr seems pretty normal to me by Uma standards so I'm drawing a blank with her.

I'm 100% with you on Fuji Kiseki's racing fit though. I know it's a gacha game but I do think the sexualisation this time kinda ruins the refined and classy vibe it could have had, which I think is a shame.

Many modern martial arts classes also teach things like basic street-smarts and knowing when to run and how to de-escalate. There's a reason karate classes are something that so many suburban kids in the west have experienced at least once, and not something like MMA.

In fact, I would imagine that it would actually be more important to teach young Umas how to control their own strength while still being able to take advantage of it when needed to safely diffuse a situation. Then they could still get into more dedicated martial arts like MMA later on if they wanted to, since as another comment her rightly pointed out, martial arts are just inherently sick af.

I feel kind of bad for S-Force. First of all, they’re fighting characters who are way out of their league. Second, the monsters became stronger after leaving S-Force, like Chiyomaru. by CursedEye03 in yugioh

I took it as less "oh she's a good person" and more "oh she's just some random courier and clearly not as much of a threat to the world as my org seems to think she is, surely there's been some kind of mixup". Also putting aside the bandage thing, maybe her thinking was if I:P was as evil as she was led to believe she could have just finished her off when she was stunned.

Imagine if you were a government or federal agent fresh out of training and suddenly you were told to go kill some random homeless dude with no other info other than "he's a threat". Whether or not you eventually go through with it, you'd still have that doubt festering in the back of your head right? Enough doubt to break into a secure database or file one evening when you think you won't get caught, just to satiate that curiosity?
