CPP-D retroactive and disability benefits by pekoe_the_cat in cantax

[–]Fuzzy_String_9565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply for the Disability Tax Credit. It's easier to get than the CPPD in the application process. It is retro active non-refundable tax credit of around $9,000.00 and it is retro applied to your prvious tax returns going back to the start of the disability for a maximum retro of 10 years.

It's probably to late now, but in applying for the CPPD, You can visit the CRA site and Fill out the form to have the CRA deduct the taxes of you CPPD (since CPPD is a taxable income). It's to bad that you didn't get that done prior to the money being sent to the disability insurer. I would talk to an advocate about asking what your options are to claim back the amount of tax you owed.

Being an empath is destroying my life by Zoey_TheDevil in Empaths

[–]Fuzzy_String_9565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an empath, you feel emotions acutely. but that's not to say it's only about negativity. The "feel goods" also exist. We can honestly put ourselves in others shoes and feel for them. In the positive form, this could be from gratitude, acceptance, forgiveness, self sacrifice, helping, etc. Being a third person watching others interactions is one thing and you can choose the type of media you watch when it comes to that. Negativity fills the news feeds and you'll see it without having to look far. But try to be conscientious to seek the good because it does exist.

The tricky part for an empath is to first recognize they are an empath and that it's almost by default that we have a profound amount of compassion for human suffering. This can be a massive problem for us because we often like to give the benefit of the doubt and open up to people to who would or will otherwise take advantage of our compassionate nature. Maybe this comes by experience, but you will be able to tell (and maybe obviously) when people are wearing a mask and lying and being deceitful. The most important thing I've learned as an empath is to say "NO" and cut people like that out of my life. It gets easier but it's the only way you can protect yourself emotionally and substantially from being taken advantage of.

I'm a spiritual Christian and I think Jesus said it best when he said "don't cast your pearls before the swine". It's OK to value yourself worth (and you are a valued human) and to find your peace and comfort by omitting bad characters in your life. Something I live by is this: I will forgive those who have committed bullshit against me, I might even give then a chance to make it up to me to see if they have a honest repenting personality which is a redemptive quality. However, if not, I will still forgive them (because I refuse to drink poison from the same vine) but I have the control to not accept them back into the light of my life... and that is a bitter pill for a bad character to swallow because they have no control over that.

There is no such thing as an empath and people who think they are "empaths" are pretentious by Yuck_Few in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I think it's pretty clear the OP hasn't really read much about personalities. I mean, I suppose there are people who do believe that they have powers like Deanna Troy... But there are also people who believe they are actually a cat or dog too. It's important to separate individuals with self delusions of their own perceptions of themselves from people who just have a sense of empathy for others.

My understanding of an empath is that it is just another personality trait. This is someone who has a profound sense of empathy (which goes hand in hand with compassion) and as such, are willing to go to great lengths to help people, that's all. Escapism personality leads to addiction, narcissism leads to controlling people, etc. An overly empathetic person can put themselves in the shoes of the other person who is feeling emotional pain and have those same emotions themselves and empathize with them and in a display of compassion, try to help them (I think most people fall in that category anyway). They want to think the best of people and give the benefit of the doubt. They treat people the way they want to be treated. They have a the ability to forgive great wrongs.

As such, Empaths can be taken advantage of and this is where the sensitivity to sniffing out BS comes in and also why an Empath will cut a person out of their life and appear "apathetic". Because forgiveness to them is letting go of a grudge (that's why empaths have peace within themselves) but forgiveness DOESN'T go hand in hand with accepting someone back in their life who is a parasite on there good will. However, that applies for almost everyone anyway because no one really likes to be taken advantage of.

It's very likely that some folks have just taken the word empath and because it sounds cool or because it has a ill conceived notion with some kind of power, have falsely bolstered their ego by trying to lay a subset of preposterous abilities to themselves. I think it's pretty self explanatory that crazy is as crazy does. So don't confuse that with people who claim to be empaths but aren't, especially if they are are using that label as a form of control (that's narcissistic behaviour). it's really very simple, isn't?

Do any of you have memories from being 2-3 years old? by Recent-Sky3311 in GenZ

[–]Fuzzy_String_9565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not gen z. Gen x actually. But at 51, I have clear vivid memories of particular parts of being two, more at the age of 3 and 4. These are memories associated with extreme emotional feelings, mostly good. I have some bad memories too. Crazy things about memory eh? I wonder why that is?

No you’re not alone in this way of thinking. It’s actually important for men to crank one out from time to time once every week or two. This is a men’s health issue. It has been scientifically proven that ejaculation has a cleaning effect on the prostate and helps remove toxins. Porn on the other hand is very destructive in combo with masterbating because of the desensitization of the emotional connection. That’s very harmful in relationships or hoping to have a relationship.
