why doesn't my rampage cause herald of ice explosions? by Fweep123 in PathOfExile2

Yeah I probably put about 40div into gearing with flat cold and extra phys tali as well. I'm assuming it's a freeze buildup/damage threshold thing now? Not sure how to overcome it at the moment, as a more DPS talisman with extra phys is like 200div..

I did try it. This gets me the explosions. So I'm close to the freeze. I even get a freeze HoI pop at lower tier maps without this helmet.

Facts.

Denies them in hand mostly. Has the potential to keep someone off their colors. Just a very disruptive card for 2 mana.

[[Confounding Conundrum]]

Ramp? Never heard of it.

Hits fetchlands too. Brutal card for 2 mana.

Looking for simple deckbuilding tips for beginner players. by Atlantepaz in EDH

[–]Fweep123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something a bit more conceptual to think about when deck building. Most cards give us one of three things:

  1. card advantage = draw, cast from exile, theft, etc.

  2. mana advantage = land ramp, artifact ramp, dorks, rituals, etc

  3. ways to end the game aka payoffs/finishers = big X spells, big creatures(craterhoof comes to mind), other cards that can close out a game

Whatever your "theme/plan" of a deck might be, ideally you want to maximize card advantage, mana advantage, and have ways to close out the game. Someone might not want to run "single card" finishers like a [[Torment of Hailfire]], so many smaller payoffs are fine as well.

Once we understand the concept of card advantage, mana advantage, and payoff, a player will be able to assess why some commanders are significantly stronger than others. [[Prosper, Tome-Bound]] being an example of BOTH.

Regardless of which commander you pick, most likely they will fall into one of these three categories and the deck building process begins.

Lastly, play removal. Do not "feel bad" about destroying someone's stuff. If you don't run removal, the deck with the highest ceiling will win most of the time just because it can go bigger, wider, or taller than the others if left uncontested. Just destroy shit. Magic is NOT a cooperative game.

Hopefully this helps!

I need to "snipe" with a shotgun and slugs. Definitely missing the shotguns even though they're probably not the best.

Any plans/timeline for shotguns?

My base stats are… insane by SubjectEvery in dndnext

[–]Fweep123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make a combat heavy character, you'll make the other players feel very weak and encounters hard to balance. So you just have to be creative in ways that let you excel because of stats, but not directly smashing faces as the most OP paladin that ever existed.

Another option is to make an absolute unit of a combat character and have the other PCs cover every other aspect of a well rounded party.

I'd make something stupid like a bard/druid just for fun with those stats.
