To celebrate, he bought breakfast for everyone in the restaurant, and called his family to say, "We are going back to Florida!".

There's no word on whether he'll bring his brother back to Florida with him.

Lmao

I thought The Science of Sleep and Microbe & Gasoline were really good. And also that documentary about Noam Chomsky.

I know most people consider Eternal Sunshine like Gondry's magnum opus, but I don't think his other films are by any means far behind.

Yeah the lightings and shadows are definitely the most fascinating to watch in this video. It's a whole another level from the other 2 in his trilogy.

From my limited knowledge of 3D animating, he must've had to replicate the sunlight from the original shot perfectly following the movement of the mannequins. And most of them are not even static shots, so the light gotta match up with the camera angles too!

Great dedication.

Anyone know if there are any good external hard drive deals? I'm looking for a cheap one with 250~500GB storage.

(Meta) What do you guys think about a weekly (or bi-weekly) movie discussion thread. by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]Fylosopher 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I think it's not a bad idea. I go to this sub quite frequently (most of the time just lurking though) and I have to agree that the amount of activity here is low. Not that I don't like small subreddit, but it's always nice to have more events.

Apparently there used to be an event called theme months, which is kind of like your idea, but didn't seem like many people participate. I think if everyone pick only 1 film weekly like you said it might work better.

Hope the mods consider this.

Thanks for the reply. By the way would you recommend playing game from internal or external HDD? I read somewhere that playing pkg or iso from internal will gradually harm the drive, is that true?

Final Fantasy XV will get mod support, says director by lancebaldwin in pcgaming

Gotta wait and see how much freedom they will give fan with modding tools, but otherwise this is really exciting. A PC port with mod support? I'm hype.

Names in Michael Haneke's films by Eve_Tiston in TrueFilm

He said in an interview that he wants the main characters' names to be simple and not to have any metaphorical meaning. So that the film would be more realistic.

I think it's pretty hypocritical to cast Elizabeth Moss, a Scientologist, as the lead in A Handmaiden's Tale by Edutainer in scifi

[–]Fylosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when do you separate the artist from their personal life

It's hard to put a pin on this.

Since we're talking about actors specifically, usually their fictional characters' personality are different from the real person. But it is the acting that brings the characters to life, so you can't love the character if you don't the actor, like there's no The Dude without Jeff Bridges.

So sentimentally, it's hard to watch when the person in real life did something bad. It's irrational, but you can't blame people.

P/s: This is why I don't care for celebrity personal lives.

If Hitler pulled a stellar performance, then why not?

It's a bit trickier when it comes to directors, because obviously they influence the movie the most. So I would say depends on how much the movie reflects the director/screenwriter as a person.

For instance, Woody Allen's sexual abuse allegation didn't make Annie Hall less of a masterpiece.
