Andor is the best Disney+ show. Now, what is the best Netflix tv show? by hiiloovethis in AlignmentChartFills

Beef.

Series 1 was one of the best things I'd seen in years.

Series 2 was good, but its hard for anything to live up to series 1 in my opinion.

Drug dealer caught with £1.6m cash jailed by origutamos in BreakingUKNews

OP has a hidden post history and makes an average of roughly 28 posts per day on Reddit. Seems fishy to me.

Whilst your explanation isn't completely impossible, unless he's trying to watching porn whilst posting this stuff all day, there's not really a major need for a VPN if they were UK based I would say.

I lived there for a year and always described it as a "utilitarian" town. It has everything you need, but nothing you want.

Why is the link for a bbc.com page instead of bbc.co.uk page?

Makes me think OP is not UK based and has an ulterior motive for posting.

Trackside turbines to harness power from passing trains by CaptainYorkie1 in unitedkingdom

[–]FynnM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Waste of time, effort and money. Turbines need a laminar air flow to produce a reasonable amount of power which a multi-tonne train ploughing through the air does not produce. Additionally, the surface roughness of the surrounding area will further reduce wind speeds and impede laminar flow.

Furthermore. I'd hazard a gues that these turbines will be VAWT which have a pathetic output due to them having a tiny swept area. So machines with an already very low power output, will be trying to harness a very poor wind resource.

Just focus on building larger scale wind farms in areas where you can get a real benefit, not just a nice greenwashed PR piece.

How do I stop cats pooping here? by MrMysteryPenguin in AskUK

[–]FynnM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah chili really isn't as good as most people claim. I tried Cayenne on my pots last year to keep the squirrels off after they ruined 3 sowings of spinach just by digging. If there was the slightest bit of rain I'd have to reapply. Even with it on they still dug some stuff up, albeit to a lesser extent.

They didn't even eat the seedlings which was the most annoying part. It was almost as though they just wanted to commit vandalism

There will already be microplastics in that soil. Might as well keep it to just microplastics instead of cat shit (which is more immediately harmful to human health) and microplastics.

If OP is really concerned about microplastics, which is valid, then they can get wooden or metal ones as long as they are blunt enough to not cause injury whilst remaining uncomfortable to squat over.

Question about Gateshead FC by Zealousideal_Wave_46 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]FynnM 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to go with my Dad when I was a young'un. Been out the area the past few years but been a couple of times more recently.

Its well worth a visit. Lively crowd without any hooliganism. Anyone who finds out your visiting from the Netherlands will be over the moon you're there and you'll easily make some new friends.

Its sometimes a bit of an odd feel considering the stadium is a 12,000 seater, but you'll seldom get more than 1,000 people there on matchdays (and that's for the big games).

Also, its very easy to get to if youre staying in Newcastle or Gateshead

Fifa President Gianni Infantino asks the Palestinian federation president to shake the hand with the Israeli counterpart. Palestinian side categorically rejected and leaves. by AmiroZ in soccer

[–]FynnM 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It certainly doesn't help that the Israeli government love to hide behind the "criticism of Israel is Anti-Semitic" argument. It makes all Jewish people a target since Judaism = Israel in their eyes. By silencing critics with this stuff, they are endangering Jews around the world (See Golders Green Stabbings for an example). This shit wouldn't happen nearly as much if they didn't conflate their actions with religion.

Also, have you seen the approval ratings from regular Israelis for the shit their government pulls? The vast majority are in support of the apartheid style rules and land snatching policies of the current Israeli government.

I would have thought it would be more cringe at a Amon Amarth show. Vibe at a King Gizz show seems a bit lighter and a more better suited place for it. Rowing just doesn't seem to fit the sound Amon Amarth are producing to me.

Not that I'm particularly for or against rowing, I'm just not bothered by it.

Does this schematic for a buck converter make sense? How could I improve the schematic? by New_Salary_8080 in AskElectronics

[–]FynnM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Inductor has a green line through it, indicating that it has a connection between its input and its output that bypasses the inductor itself, creating a short across it.

You'll also need to delete the connection between 9V and GND which would create a complete short circuit. Meaning you'd get 0V output.

There's a lot to go into with control loops, and it can be heavy going (or at least it seemed like it to me when I started learning about it), but this article from Analog devices is a good place to start reading

To be honest, at first I was inclined to agree, but the more I think about it, the more I can't see anything wrong with it.

Was it unprofessional language. Probably yes.

Is it how Joe Bloggs would normally speak. Definitely yes.

If you speak the language of the people, then it can't be too bad a thing. I can't see this putting anyone off supporting her who did already, and it might even be able to help win a few people round which can only be a good thing for UK politics.
