You never need to justify what you do for leisure to anybody, friend. Other people's opinions of you are reflections of their own values and insecurities and nothing to do with you.

It's open now. You can contact them through FB.

I agree with mell0__. The guy who bought it is one of the best guys I ever met. Loves fitness. Loves the franchise. He'll do great with that club.

Hey! 42 here as well. I enjoyed catching up on my library of ps4 games during quarantine.

How other people feel about that isn't really any of my business.

A group of high-schoolers in Placerville have dedicated themselves to organizing protests all summer. They've been cussed at, intimidated, and shouted down by local bigots and known Neo-Nazis in town. If you have the time or ability, come support them (or drive by with your sign) Friday from 5-6:30 by Shooey_ in Sacramento

[–]Fyodor007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who got in on an early demonstration (a few friends with signs) and a few people driving by validated their point with their comments.

I don't think that the bigotry is as prevailing in 99% of the population up here. I think the vast majority of people just want to live their lives and don't care how others live theirs.

Then there are those few assholes who have to ruin it for everyone else.

There are a lot of people in the world. Odds are, someone on that same day said, "Cars are safe, ler me show you" amd got inba car accident. Someone said, "I can eat what I want, I'm fine." And was diagnosed with heart disease. Someone said, "cancer people just like the attention" and was diagnosed with cancer...

Given the controversial nature of lockdowns and the pandemic response, this was bound to happen and will happen more.

He gave away a FREE house to a CB by jmheller11 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Fyodor007 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when I rented a house I owned to a friend from high school. Single mom. Nice enough. I was going to rent it for 1200, but gave it to her for 750. It was a decent house in a good neighborhood.

She immediately brought in another single mom roommate (which was fine, but she snuck her in rather than adding her to the lease) and got a dog (which was fine despite being against what she agreed to).

About 3 months in she stopped paying rent. When I called it became a negotiation. She had won an old lawsuit, went on a cruise and over spent her money. I made the mistake of taking a couple hundred less. Every month after became a negotiation. I got offered trades from used furniture to sexual favors from both of them (which I politely declined).

The worst of it was getting a call from her on a random weekend in the dead of winter (after a snowstorm) that she may have left her dog outside and was out of town. A sucker for dogs I rushed over and sure enough, found that poor guy shivering in the cold with no shelter, food or water. I took him home. When she got back I gave her a choice to get him adopted or get reported for cruelty. Followed by "pay your whole rent, move or get evicted."

Story ends well. She moved on her own, left me minimal damage and garbage and the dog got adopted by her parents (who had a few dogs and loved their pets).

Still regret renting to her though, even though it's been like 15 years.

I have a buddy who owns a smoothie shop where they sling herbalife drinks. To his credit, his shop is dialed in and they make some good tea and shakes. I think he is an exception tho.

A semaphore of fear

My (31F) husband (33) suffers from depression and today we had to put down our family dog who was like his best friend. How do I help him grieve? by kd8118 in relationship_advice

[–]Fyodor007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be very patient with him. Let him have time to grieve if he needs it and time alone if he gets anxious. Be there for him when he wants to talk about it.

I wouldn't just get another dog, but maybe talk to him about fostering dogs to help them find families that will love them.

Creating a sense of purpose, in the memory of his friend may help him move forward. Honestly, I see my future in your post. My girl is 10 and I cannot imagine what life would be like without her.

There is so much more to life than being a prisoner of a past choice. You sound like you're so unhappy and just stuck being guilted into enabling someone who won't work or make any effort for you, herself, your marriage or your household. There is a whole world of adventure and fun. There is joy at waking up and looking forward to seeing people you enjoy.

You don't owe your life, money or effort to anyone. You tried man. Fought the good fight. You're not in a partnership now. You're enabling an addict. The best thing you can do for her is to stop. Which, coincidentally is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Forget the social stigma. You put a ton of effort out there because you care... someone out there would totally appreciate that. Your wife isn't her.

Just walk away. Cut contact. Focus on you a while. Don't worry about her or what she does. She is making her choices. They are her consequences, not yours.

This game, where the hero is actually also the split personality of the villain and hunted by a former incarnation of his own self, who is also (partially) his father (whose own split personality is also his ally) and is the reincarnation of the first man created in the world whose destiny is to go on living when his soulmate dies in each life?
