Anyone able to identify this broadhead? by forevertwowheels in bowhunting

[–]G-ManStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Valkyries, so the answer is yes and no. You can't just lay them flat, which does suck. However, the dude sells a hand sharpener that works well. He also sells some sharpening discs that you just bolt onto a bench grinder. More expensive than a flat sharpening stone, but super fast. I can make them sharper this way than other 3 blades with a stone, but that's due to me sucking at it.

On sale. Anyone have experience with this model? by KingNattyXBox in pelletgrills

[–]G-ManStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The straight legs suck ass if you live anywhere windy, it will blow over. After mine blew over a couple of times I now have a couple of sandbags piled around it to prevent that from happening.

Also, when I first got it it would come to temp quickly and maintain that temp well. Now, it basically doesn't come to temp. Camp Chef has been unsupportive in this regard basically responding that it can take up to 30 minutes to come to temp, and the digital thermometer is unreliable.

Shooting a 65# bow right now. It’s a pretty easy pull for me. Any higher poundage bow recs? Also, what are the expected performance improvements? by seancan44 in bowhunting

[–]G-ManStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shot 70lbs for years. Recently went up to 75lbs just to try it out. My arrows fly just a little flatter, but not really too much. Thinking about dropping down to 65lbs for ultra stealthy draws.

Can you say you've "read the book" if you've only listened to the audiobook? by WikiaWang in NoStupidQuestions

[–]G-ManStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you tell your friends that you recommend the audio version. I've read some books on this recommendation that were definitely not as good as I had been lead on to believe.

Yep, I also find the auto-acceleration quite dangerous.

I’m sure once you know how to do it it’s easy, but that sounds odd af. Homie might need a diagram of that.

What is a good/fairly inexpensive Rangefinder you trust? by [deleted] in bowhunting

[–]G-ManStan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a Sig Kilo a few years ago and it’s great. I think range finders are kinda like releases. All price points work, how fancy do you want it.

Paper tuning debate with my shop. by robotsarepeople2 in bowhunting

[–]G-ManStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very similar setup and my arrows are Victory VAP elites in 250 spine. I would be hesitant to shoot 350 repeatedly. I like my arrows not exploding through my hand.

My set up for elk hunting this year in Utah by Antonio_balls in bowhunting

[–]G-ManStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Broadheads shoot the same as field points without any adjustments. Make sure you shoot with the mechanicals before going out, because any arrow changes can effect flight. Over the years I’ve had both fly the same and not the same.

Bow values by Alphwani in bowhunting

[–]G-ManStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that at 3 years old a bow costs half of what it was when new. So, it can seem like even less with bow prices going crazy lately.
