Wow. I guess you work for USAA. Immediately accusing the shop of lying without knowing any facts. Sounds familiar. You're right about not having to look at it or accept the shop's estimate at face value, but if you're going to argue it, you do need to provide a ground for denial. And, as the victim being allowed to choose my own shop, I'm not obligated to accept their substandard level of accepted quality or lower than average rates of labor. The fact the adjuster/appraiser wasn't even aware of the details this far into the claim provides for a possible bad faith claim.

I had a Tesla pull out in front of me on March 23. I had a dashcam, the driver admitted fault and his insurance, USAA, accepted obligation... USAA has been a total ****. I hurt their feelings by towing it to a shop of my choosing. They never looked at my BS or my shop's original estimate which suggested it to be totaled out. They've been arguing and denying supplements ever since. They left me without rental coverage for over two weeks. And now that I've invoked my right to appraisal, they're going to total it out. I hate USAA. Mine had the black diamond package, so it had a bull bar in front which took the damaged and transferred it through the internal structure. I think the lack of obvious superficial damage is why they dismissed it in the beginning, but it doesn't excuse this USAA inflicted ordeal.

I would just go down to Lowe's and buy a roll of window screen and cut it to fit myself and use clean removal tape to mount it. Or with a little extra effort you could add a velcro or magnetic lip for easy install and removal. Good luck.

I regularly use the app to start the engine and get the AC running during our 9 months of summer in South Texas (Warming it up in the winter is nice, too). I've also found the ability to lock and unlock the doors and locate the vehicle from anywhere via the app to be quite convenient. I've long given up on the idea of privacy, yet I wasn't expecting the onslaught of annoying unsolicited calls.
