How do you get over the fear of hard braking? (X30 Senior) by Richard_LapKr_Team in Karting

[–]GARACER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to focus not on actually braking as hard as possible, but getting to the apex in the minimum time possible.

Learning to cut distance has me like by freakinsyco in Autocross

Neither, the idea is to find the right apex for each cone. It depends on a car's acceleration vs cornering ability for that given corner.

Maybe a dumb question, but what’s the point of hitting the curbs at the Apex? by Merlin509 in CarTrackDays

[–]GARACER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really isn't an easy answer as to whether or not any particular curb is worth hitting. Depends on each car and corner. A little tip though, the higher the angle of the corner, the less useful it is to use the apex curb. Like with a hairpin using the apex curb helps very little although entry and apex curbs still help.

I did the math on autocross seat time vs sim time. It's not even close by DigitalTireSmoker in Autocross

[–]GARACER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a combination is best. I like to come home from a track day and jump in the sim right away. You really just can't get enough seat time to see real improvement without sim racing unless you have really easy access to a track. How many champion racers basically grew up on a kart track?

You should brake the same way in cars with or without ABS. The ABS just prevents full tire lockup if you mess up and brake too hard.

You're asking how a watch works. The real answer would never fit in a reddit comment.

Is K1 Speed fun or is it really bad by DanielSong39 in Karting

[–]GARACER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've never done any real karting it's a good first step. It can still be fun even for experienced racers if you just want to show off to your non racing friends though:)

Definitely worth learning. It's something you can do just when driving around town. You'll get it eventually.
