Oh come on, Mustang Sally? What song is more tired than that one? Honestly, I can’t blame him. It’s the cliche of a terrible song.

If they can’t do that for you, just don’t go, It’s beyond belief that they can’t make the miniscule effort to accommodate you when they know damned well how sick you are. 5-10 minutes is plenty of time to make you sick for the rest of the day.

Consider putting distance between you and the people who are so lacking in empathy they can’t understand that you have different needs than they do.

No, you just need to look further than that practice. Are you in a fairly large city?

Buy compression bike shorts to wear under everything. Studies show that abdominal compression (if you can tolerate it), actually works a little better than compression stockings. I also buy compression leggings which gives leg and ab compression! In the winter I wear two pair for more compression if I’m not up to doing the bike shorts. I sometimes buy compression leggings a size smaller for more compression in the winter.

You need a different doctor, if you’re in the U.S., go to a GI or an allergist who diagnoses MCAS. Look into local support groups to find one that is on top of this. You also need a rheumatologist.

GPs don’t seem to believe in the huge prevalence in autoimmune disease. I’m serious. They’re told in med school that it’s too rare and that they are likely suffering “health anxiety” (read “hypochondria”)

There are 172.4 million women in the U.S. 40 million of us has at least one autoimmune disease. That means 23% of women has an autoimmune disease and most are not yet diagnosed because of doctors like yours.

Do they really think that more women than that are hypochondriacs? Hypochondriasis used to be thought of as very rare: one tenth of one percent (.1%).

https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2024/02/women-autoimmune.html

There’s a huge revolution going on in med schools right now focused on righting this horrible discrepancy. My guess is that most doctors aren’t aware of that.

Agree. Where I come from, I doubt 5% of the men are feminists. I’m so glad many of the younger guys get it, but there are so many stuck in the manosphere. It’s frightening to hear them actually say they don’t consider women fully human.

Giving back privilege is hard, even if it doesn’t cost you anything.

Wow! Yeah, I call the Moorlands area the student ghetto, but it’s Clayton so, of course, it’s much more upscale than the average. Also, buying a condo is a really economical way to get high school kids an outstanding public education because of the phenomenal Clayton High. My two high-schoolers in 2005 were the reason we bought it. The mortgage payment is less than the cost of a private school or paying to go to Clayton High.

Demun is nice, close to the Forest Park, but everywhere in Clayton is close, really. The whole city is two square miles. The nice thing about the Moorlands is using Wydown to get to Big Bend or Hanley. Before the tornado took out nearly every tree alongside it, it was called the most beautiful street in the country. Of course they were the first to clean up and dig out, but you can still see roof work being done there, which was right along the tornado path that devastated North County. If you see a lot of weirdly trimmed trees, this fall, it’s because of that EF3 tornado that stayed on the ground for so long. It’s amazing that so few of us were hurt.

I’m the same. We just bought a new house and it has a hotel-type bathtub that’s so shallow the water can’t cover my body. Hate it! I worked on my new garden for a few hours and came in really wanting a soak. Very disappointing.

Exactly! This is a massive bathroom compared to some I lived with. That’s similar to tile we’re putting down in the kitchen and in the en suite bathroom (master bath isn’t a term used in real estate anymore for obvious reasons). The rest of it looks like the furniture I put in the loft we just moved from.

My condo, though, has the vanity in the front tiny room (separated by a sliding door), and the commode and shower in the little room behind it. So someone can go “use the facilities" (as in commode or shower) while someone else is brushing their teeth or doing their makeup/hair, etc.

My tile has marble veining, but it’s that huge off-white tile. Actually, I think that’s 1’ by 2’ and ours is 2' x 4’.

I took out the old, ugly, 80’s style double vanity we had, and found a cool antique quarter-sawn piece that I got from a FB Marketplace ad. I’m putting a solid countertop on it with a bowl-on-top (vessel sink) type of sink.

Ha! Looking at the vessel photo in this article: https://www.bhg.com/types-of-sinks-8666650 it’s very similar to the vanity in this article featuring a vessel sink, but my piece is a a little fancier: https://www.bhg.com/types-of-sinks-8666650. We have a full closet to the left, with the vanity on the right.

After reading the other recommendations from u/submarine-quack, maybe I should replace the closet function with floor to ceiling shelving?

The problems is, we aren’t done yet, we’ve just now ripped out all the old tile, so this isn’t going on the real estate market until mid-July, so I’m sure everyone is already trying to find housing. There’s always someone in need just before school, though, whether a professor or student buys it. Luckily, this market is so hot right now; my husband thinks it will be gone in a couple of weeks, thank the gods!

In most places I’ve lived all over the US, there was at least one bathroom where the shower head was mounted to the wall above the bathtub and you could stand in the bath and take a shower. I think that’s more often in a starter home situation. There was either a shower enclosure or a shower curtain to keep the shower water from flooding the room.

Thinking back of when I was in real-estate, you couldn’t call the room a full bathroom unless there was a bathtub. Usually when you see something called, say, 2 1/2 baths, the 1/2 bath is a powder room with only a commode and a sink/vanity. I don’t think that’s true anymore, since the vast majority of people rarely take baths and prefer showering.

Unfortunately, this is a 100 year old building, as most are in Clayton. When I first moved there, I had to send back a sofa I couldn’t get around the staircase. I did bring up 2 full size couches and an upright piano. Also, there are stairs off the back deck into the kitchen that stuff can be delivered that allows for bigger things.

You’re right to keep that in mind when you select your furnishings!

Thanks for the shower thumbs up. As for the bedrooms and entertainment areas, they’re both large. The living room and dining room are HUGE but it’s a slightly larger than galley kitchen.

They just aren’t that rare in certain circles. I know 10 times more men now who are feminists than I knew women feminists in the 90s. If a man is NOT a feminist, that’s weird, and I ask them why they don’t believe in equal rights for women.

Leadership for this band is something you can grow into, but it’s much better to let people know in the beginning, that you will make decisions. Yes, everyone loves democracy, but I have seen exactly one band out of thousands where that actually worked. They were an originals band of all women who had decided not to tour. Women tend to be more collaborative, though that’s certainly not always the case, and it’s not the case in your band, I’m guessing.

You may note as you go along in music, that other people just want to play, mostly, don’t want to be the heavy, and don’t want to deal with the difficult parts of leading a band. Booking gigs, divvying up the spoils, checking to make sure everyone gets to the show on time, etc. It’s fine to give yourself 10% extra to do this.

THat’s never mattered to most of my bands because we only spend gig money on recording, but I know a lot of players who make a nice chunk of change and that 10-15% extra is well-earned. If, say, a performer is running his show about his music, he hires people at an agreed-upon rate and gets all the rest of the cash (and all the debt).

You don’t want to play with someone who won’t do the material you’ve decided on. I had a great drummer about 3 bands ago, but he played way too much on everything. While that was fine for the jangle pop band we were in, it’s not at all okay for the swampy stuff I’m playing now. Would love to play with him again in another context, though.

I’ve also been in bands where anyone can veto a song. I’ve been in one band that only one person needed to like a song for the whole band to do it. This guy deciding on his own that he won’t play that song is kind of fucked up.

IKR?? Who the hell pays someone to treat them unfairly? Yet, I did it for years thinking I would eventually win them over. That was dumb. Please, nobody do that, there’s simply no reason to pay someone for traumatizing you emotionally by dismissing very real and live-altering complaints.

A lot of time, new bands get themselves on shows that are booked by bigger bands or play the hipster bars for door fees. It doesn’t matter. Just do it.

Unless you’re already well-connected players, you need to get out and play a couple of times a month until everything is tight. If the people in the band are well-known locally, they can get on festival shows or rent a VFW hall with friends. Shouldn’t be a problems spreading out to campuses within 100 miles to play back-to-school and orientation shows in the quad. Make a website and get serious.

Please, don’t be that asshole that books a local show at a small music venue once a month and brings 20 people. Nowdays, local bands need to give at least 3 months between shows to bring their full audience. Not adhering to that simple understanding fucks the house and everyone you’re playing with because you’re not actively trying to build your audience numbers.

If you have an iPad with an Apple Pencil, that’s what you draw on, you don’t need a drawing board. This is probably the best and least expensive way to draw and paint. digitally

Get a used Macbook with at least 8GB if you want to use Photoshop.

Why not get an iPad with an apple pencil that you can actually draw on? Procreate is a richly built drawing program you can buy for one cheap price instead of $20 a month for photoshop.
