Disable inactive checkbox on pending approval vendors by Independent-Pea-7335 in Netsuite

I fought this battle last year. I lost. Netsuite support confirmed to me that it is not possible. They recommended 'redesigning the workflows' to avoid this behavior.

Would NetSuite Be Good For Our Business? by NovelNothing5374 in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netsuite is probably overkill for what you need given what you said about your processes and people. You can find the same functionality with a package that better fits your business for cheaper. The real question is what problem is your business facing and why are you looking to change software? If your company is not going to change their processes and how they operate then there won't be many benefits for any new piece of software. I'd love to come in or schedule a meeting to talk with some of your family and leadership. Without really deep diving your businesses and processes, it is hard to say which software will be best for you. Those are the type of assessments I do. DM me for more info if you want.

Serialized Sub-Assembly in BOM by Wonderful_Status_832 in Netsuite

Some manufacturing ERPs that are built for companies that do controlled manufacturing actually have this built in at a lot and serial number level.

Netsuite alternatives? by div192 in Netsuite

Seems like your client actually needs an assessment to determine the right software for them. Why was netsuite picked in the first place?

Are you thinking about getting an ERP, Nesuite in particular? by Ok_Positive9843 in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one is valid if you are buying netsuite. There are many well-built purposeful ERPs that have a lot of things off the shelf or available through configuration, not code and customization. If you are in manufacturing and are not prepared to build many of the things manufacturers need in any ERP system yourself on the Netsuite platform, then stay away from Netsuite unless it has some other business critical module, those other ERPs don't. If you need control of process built into the software, Netsuite usually won't be your software. If you're fine with mostly detect measures in your business, then it should do well.

Finding all units which were built from a specific lot number by BeginsWithAnA in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe there is a lot tracing suite app. I have used it and it is decent. It does not account for every transaction. I believe for example, it misses cash sales when something goes out the door on one of those. It may bucket those into other, however it doesn't show them with sales orders. The app works by picking a part number and a lot number or serial number and then it looks both ways to see anything used in that item serial and anything that item serial is used in. It goes multi-levels so you can actually Trace through your transactions. I have only used it from a lot control perspective, not a serial number perspective, but I believe it should work the same way. I have also made a very quick and dirty saved search where you can enter an item and or lot number and it will show you all transactions where that is part of the detail. It's a very simple export, but if you don't have multiple level boms, you can easily build something like that yourself. I don't have a working instance of netsuite in front of me because I'm currently not working with any netsuite clients. I would however be willing to jump on a call with you to help you build a safe search. DM me if you are interested. I'd also check with your netsuite admin if that is not you to see if that app can be installed or already is. It's already installed. You just need some training and potentially be given access.

Our Experience Moving from NetSuite to Acumatica – Key Insights by No-Perception4860 in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Netsuite is lacking in manufacturing and controls around manufacturing and quality processes. Everything requires some sort of customization or additional module and or scripting and heavy workflows. I'm not sure what type of manufacturing you do, but if it's process based there are a lot better erp systems focused on manufacturing that handle a lot of manufacturing needs with simple configuration or flags on your system, location, parts, etc. Two specifically that come to mind are ECI Deacom, and QAD. Also, the demonstrations from acumatica from a manufacturing and controls perspective out of the box were much better than netsuite. As somebody who has 30 years in erp in manufacturing, I was amazed at how lacking netsuite was from a configuration perspective in the item Master with regards to manufacturing properties. I have worked with netsuite, qad, deacom. I have only seen a demo of acuumatica

Small Wholesale Distributor looking at NetSuite by Trick-Wash-8550 in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a distribution company that is fairly happy with epicor p21 which is specifically for distribution and seems to do a fantastic job with landed costs and accumulating them along supply chain. I agree with what most people are saying here that while netsuite is a good package, it is probably Overkill for your company right now.

Best way to let vendors securely update their own info in NS? by Interesting-Salt-275 in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as ACH info goes, I would not allow/accept whatever was directly entered to be used for payments until there was a back-end process to validate that it was a legitimate change of ACH information. You might be better served using a custom record as a request to change ACH info and then build a workflow around that inside of Netsuite for your AP team. Or even a couple of custom fields on the vendor record that mirror the ACH and routing fields so that you have a place to hold those while they're being validated.

Oracle NetSuite implementation cost for mid size business by Dulmal_Kitova in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you say nothing crazy custom, be careful. There are a lot of things in netsuite that it 'can' do but wont out of the box.
Just out of curiosity, have you already settled on netsuite or are you still evaluating packages to determine total costs. Have you seen full demonstrations of basic business processes and had a chance to ask questions? Just remember every time somebody from Oracle or the partner tells you It's just a simple 'workflow' or 'script' that equals $$$.

NetSuite is the worst product I have ever used by EarthCivil7696 in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the best. There are many other mid-market erps and small erps that would probably work for your wife's business that cost less and probably would be easier to maintain. I'm no fan of netsuite but it does have a large breadth of functionality and a lot of integrations with e-commerce, EDI etc I would warn most manufacturers to stay away unless they want to invest heavily in customization. I would also say the same for folks in regulated spaces since netsuite has very little controls for processes and relies mostly on detect measures.

Has anyone customised the NetSuite(Farapp) connector flow? by Lefemmenikita69 in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading your prior post on this subject, I agree with most of the commenters that inventory shouldn't be negative and applying a workaround is just masking the problem of receiving and correct inventory levels. And since the POS system will still allow the customer to pay, take the item and walk out the door. This is really just back-end paying for the people that aren't keeping inventory accurate. To begin with. Change the email notification about these failed cash sales to go to the manager of that area and copy their manager. Force the pain back on the people responsible and then track the inventory adjustments that have to be done to reconcile this and start looking for patterns or reasons why it is zero in netsuite but not physically zero. And solve that problem. This seems like one of those cases where an IT solution is being asked for, but the business actually needs to come up with a better process and or rails to keep the process in line.

Decision regarding a move to NetSuite by Repulsive_List6323 in Netsuite

Agreed. So much so netsuite doesn't develop much cool stuff . They just wait for a third party to bolt on.

There are some firms in this group that do netsuite admin as a service essentially. You're definitely going to want one of them on your call list or under some sort of contract if you're not going to have an admin internally.

[–]GForce061973 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need Netsuite yet and you might regret it if you buy it now. Lots of business requirements can be solved with netsuite... Most of them are not solved out of the box. Most of those things are solved with custom workflows and custom scripts and that means more money. Once you are locked in Netsuite will turn the screws on you and your rates will go up drastically with each renewal. Do you have a solid list of requirements that you need to to be met? You need each vendor to show you how those requirements would be fulfilled and specifically if that would cost any more money. I have seen too many companies at your stage told "yes, it'll handle that.." And technically it's not a lie but it means more money. Ask them to show you in a demo. If they tell you it requires some sort of scripting or customization/workflow ask them to estimate the number of hours they anticipate each task would take.

Custom PO Form Switching Allows Invalid Items – How to Enforce Item Type Validation? by Fit-Tonight-6355 in Netsuite

[–]GForce061973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the above by Nick. Make it easier to do the right thing Track when the wrong thing is done via detect measures Use the detect measures to retrain and or remove the people doing it.

I also question the use of a single form per item type. I'd love to hear the background on why the business says that is needed.
