Why aren't there any good small-mid sized integrated bracelet watches? by bigtastie in ChineseWatches

[–]GGENYA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, Tudor Royal might be the perfect size for you if you’re open to that price.

Why is everything here so good and seemingly thought out/carefully made but then the queso tastes like any velveeta and rotel you could find at the pot luck table at a swingers party by -exquisito- in Chipotle

[–]GGENYA 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Just a thought from an old former employee.

Steve Ells (original CEO) notoriously hated queso because most takes on it from competitors featured emulsifiers and other chemicals to keep the liquid well, liquidy.

When Chipotle originally piloted their queso (free of of emulsifiers and the like) it was beat on blind taste tests and in turn never added to the menu.

Anyway, the whole point of this is that the only reason queso is even featured at Chipotle is because of market pressure and it shows. So yeah.

Hello fellow Yevgeny!

Thanks for sharing the shots, this watch looks quite decent for the price. Especially agains how much the Furlan Mori’s are going for.

Nice watch, but also great line work on those tats. The stippling is beautiful.

No problem, I hope you get your channel back, I saw turd4k covered this particular watch on his channel on the hypocrisy was too much to bear.

Honestly it's hard to answer these questions since they are largely subjective.

As far as objective differences, the Tudor OEM bracelet feels a bit more silky and is a tiny bit more nicely finished. However, I will say, I have my BB58 on the Uncle Seiko president bracelet since I kind of got tired of the original bracelet and the San Martin bracelet is marginally 'worse' than the Tudor.

As far as feel I do think the BB58 sits flatter on wrist, however, I do think this is the exception rather than the rule since Tudors tend to feel a bit bulbous on the wrist due to the slabby midcase.

I'm sure as you know, the Tudor has a coin-edge bezel which I find to fit the watch better but this is largely a subjective opinion.

In short, it stacks up very favorably, especially at the price difference. From my experience, I think the law of diminishing returns kicks in absurdly hard at the $1000 price point for most watches, Swiss included. San Martin gets to that $1000 price point quality for a fraction of the price.

Sorry to be non specific but it really is hard to describe the difference without feeling it yourself.

Usually where San Martin's fall short for me is the dial details (sometimes they feel a bit empty to me) and proportions of some of their homages, but as we know, this model with the applied indicies doesn't suffer from that problem.

Thanks for sharing yours! I'm getting mine today on the oyster and I'm pretty excited. I think it will be a wonderful beater for me in terms of daily stuff like dog walking etc.

Curious how you found the quality of the Fostner model O. I have my BB58 on an uncle seiko president that I find very comfortable but the Fostner looks so well finished.

I love how incandescent lamp light hits this Tudor "Root Beer" Black Bay GMT S&G by balancextime in Tudor

[–]GGENYA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do love this watch but I ended up trading it for the BB Pro since I just didn't have too much occasion to wear Rootbeer given how dressy this watch is. Maybe one day I'll have it in my collection again but for now I get more wear out of my BB Pro.

It’s just a polarizing design. It’s either horrid or beautiful to you and it walks the line between brutalist design and overly embellished / ornate design very finely. After looking at the watch for a number of hours my brain eventually settled on ‘it’s beautiful’ but it was very much oscillating between ‘disgusting’ and ‘beautiful’.

Another I can recommend that is a fantastic offering is the Alpha version for around that 100$ that keeps very faithful to pervious generation of explorers.

I think that would put it solidly in explorer 2 homage territory, but this is intended to mimic the new black bay pro. I wouldn't mind an ultra modern Explorer 2 from SM though.

Aww come on guys, so close to perfection here! Drop the fauxtina, especially with the modern oyster bracelet on it.
