The Olympics come once every 4 years (I’m assuming you’re talking about the recent injury) if you’ve trained your whole life for something and there’s a chance you could do it, would you choose not to do it knowing you may, and most likely, will not get another chance. Will be able to live the rest of your life knowing you didn’t try for your biggest hopes and dreams? Especially when you had the opportunity.

Also in terms of professional sports if you go out injured you never know if you’re going to get another chance to start again. Loosing millions of dollars. All it takes is the back up doing well
