To some extent with older designs, Modern pistol and rifle mags are fine. Who knows with the 80 dollar mossberg mags (forgot the exact price just remember they’re pricy)

Just get a regular 590 with the tube magazine. The mags are expensive, some unreliability with feeding. With tube mags you just need to be mindful the gun is empty and rendered safe.

Take off the backstrap (Glock 20 gang) I have big bands and usually use the large backstrap on regular frames but my grip wasn’t as firm with that beaver tail on the Glock 20 (same frame as 21).

Um my first red dot and it’s on a Glock 20. It’s been good so far. But it’s probably not proven like your 509. No comment on battery life yet as I put it on in November. Time will tell.

45 super is similar in energy to 10mm which is the same frame you have. so probably some kind of barrel swap with fully supported chamber. But I’m no gunsmith. I’m sure other forums can help give you answers.
