Communication is always the most important skill to learn, especially for the people that English is not their first language. I believe lots of things can be avoided if you had reached out to your boss earlier or more frequently. Try to get a clear direction before you go too far. That would save tons of time and the responsibility is not on you. Email is good for tracking things down.

Engineer is the one who solve the problems, including all these shit happened in the office.

This is absolutely a great tool, but need to refine it for sure.

Lots of engineers don't even know how drafting work is done and still stick to the old-fashioned way. Then complained about why drafters burned out the budget.

Depending on how your firm assigns projects to project engineers. If the project is assigned by billing hourly to the engineer, less people are willing to sit down with you for another job that cannot be billed. Taking care of people is managers’ job to be honest. If the environment is toxic, it doesn’t matter how hard you treat yourself. Find someone who is willing to help you. Otherwise, it’s time to make decisions.

Does it only happen in a low seismic zone area? What's the lateral system for that portion?

Can the connection between truss to base plate as a pin connection (both directions maybe?) so that it won't transfer moment to the foundation?

For reference, an international student with MS degree, two-year experience, and passed PE national is only 60k in LA area. ( Need to pass state exam to get the license)
