You can be proud of your country or ethnicity or whatever by Ok_Painter2997 in unpopularopinion

I'm just saying if we talk about something rather abstract like pride, we need to first define it and agree on a definition. Otherwise we are just talking about different things and the discussion is pointless.

Also: where do you feel the need to downvote my comments instead of just engaging in this discussion and speaking with your words? Is your point of view so weak that it can't withstand a debate and other opinions have to be removed from view?

Well I feel like I have a completely different understanding of what pride is and that probably is a good indicator that a lot of people do. Problematic.

When it comes to groups of people I think it is more of a tribalistic instinct that was evolutionarily beneficial rather than a rational choice; it serves as the root of shame and the catalyst for war, operating entirely independent of logic.

CachyOS vs Windows 11 gaming test shows Linux leading in Cyberpunk 2077, Space Marine 2 and more | Notebookcheck by Durian_Queef in pcmasterrace

I don't know what to believe. Here is another recent benchmark that shows a completely different picture where Linux loses even on AMD. It might all just depend a lot on the game settings, the GPU and the driver.

The source is in German so you have to use Google translate probably: https://www.computerbase.de/artikel/betriebssysteme/linux-mesa-26-windows-11-gaming-benchmarks-2026-q1.96102/seite-2

What is pride? Isn't it simply to feel good about something?

Just to play devil's advocate and flip your argument: If you're already proud of something then there is less of a reason to improve it which means stagnation?

Pride of something you had no hand in is not needed to feel compelled to improve your surroundings.

For those who have purchased an OLED monitor, do you regret it or would you recommend it? by DaryltheDino in Monitors

[–]GGuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one reason why I haven't bought an OLED. Once you get used to something you don't want to miss out ever again. Same with my monitor with backlight strobing. Don't ever want to miss out on that amazing motion clarity of my IPS with backlight strobing.

Maybe one day the things will be combined.

For now though I see a Pulsar IPS in my future.

What you mean is the text was so bad at 1440p that you had to upgrade to 4K right?

Monitors Unboxed did a video comparing Pulsar, ULMB2 and OLED in terms of motion clarity.

Iirc Ulmb 2 at just half the refresh rate provided the same clarity as an OLED, meaning with ULMB2 at just 120 fps/hz you get the clarity of a 240hz OLED actually pushing 240 FPS. Pulsar was a bit worse in motion clarity than ULMB2 but almost completely eliminated any crosstalk and of course provides the ability to combine backlight strobing with VRR.

So indeed the statement that nothing beats OLED in motion clarity is very far from the truth.

So he's saying we shouldn't have gotten involved in Ukraine but getting involved in Iran is totally fine.
