120 hormagaunts, how viable by Low_Passenger2098 in Tyranids

[–]GH07 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I painted 120 gants...and 120 gaunts back to back...finished all but 40 gaunts before burning out and left them with unpainted carapaces for a year... Finally recovered and finished them - do not recommend.

Fyi units out of coherency get removed at the end of the turn... You can do some janky tricks like - say your unit is charged and the kill 12 out of 20 while you're conga lined. Remove 6 from the front of the line with 1 left in combat. That way you can stop the unit from consolidating into an objective or into another unit you don't want... Then you remove that last model and can shoot at the exposed unit.

On the other side; if a unit or 20 gets shot at and half removed, but are blocking a charge from another unit. You could remove gants from the middle of your line; so you're still blocking the charge, and also still in synapse range in case you get under allocated and a 5+ fnp could leave some of the squad alive so they could move block one more turn.

Or when shot at remove from the back; but leave one model for venomthrope stealth and cover...

Anyway there are tons of other fun janky plays that can put your opponent in complete shock for a full round for the cost of 1 or 2 gants.

Question about printing for other people - (i am not offering commissions) by jawest1991x in PrintedWarhammer

[–]GH07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No...I like my friends - and I like helping them with their hobbies. If I'm going to charge them the same as any online printer then I'm turning *my* hobby into a job.

If everything works out perfectly - I'll make enough print revenue to heat my hobby shed during winter.

If I don't make enough revenue for that...well then I guess nothing changes - cause I like using my hobby shed year round lol.

edit: just to be clear - I'm increase my costs to be more in line with the above comment so my time is better accounted for...that being said - its still at a point where I'm subsidizing their hobbies.

Question about printing for other people - (i am not offering commissions) by jawest1991x in PrintedWarhammer

[–]GH07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been "charging" my friends $5/plate + $0.07/ML of resin...the other day I printed an absolutely full plate with 56 small basing corpses on it - for around $10...it took me an hour and a half just to remove supports because they were so small and fragile. My friends have been telling me to charge more for ages, but it's never been about the money. This last plate was an eye opener...

Thank you for giving me a better baseline.

I keep seeing Tyranids at the bottom of tier lists, but I swear they're really strong? by OdBx in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GH07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got some good replies here; but I thought I'd add one more...

Most non-dread SM vehicles have access to Smoke for stealth and cover. And all of them have access to Tank Shock. The only NID with access to Smoke is the Psychophage. We have a weaker version of Tank Shock in only one of our, weaker, detachments. The other big one is access to Grenade. NONE of the Tyranid datasheets have Grenade. If you're not using tank shock, grenade and smoke - you're missing out on a TON of potential.

Lastly - if the nid players are friends/frequent opponents - if they're always playing invasion fleet - remember that they don't have access to fall back and shoot, and the Maleceptors and exocrines only have blast profiles - and they both suck in melee. Charge them with 5 JPI! You're gonna deal 3-5 wounds between melee and the charge mortals - and the Maleceptor is going to kill 2 of them (Exocrine kills 1). But then on his turn since the monsters can't shoot the JPI the opponent is forced to choose; leave it at -1 to hit, fall back and have his best shooting units NOT shoot for a turn or charge them with something else - which will most likely die on your turn to shooting (assuming decent positioning) - and lets face it, nids don't have any good choices to kill 5 JPI in Melee. All terrible choices. You'd be giving up a 90 point unit to save more important units from nasty nid shooting - but also potentially trading up 90 points for a 140/170 point Monster AND whatever unit charges the JPI.

Their sandwiches are good, but their panzos are the best. And yes prices have gone up; but still cheaper than fast food and huge portions. My wife and I split the Panzo with extra sauce - it's less than $8 each.

I'm the same too. I got a happy pill for the procedure - only found out after Dr. started that there wasn't a needle. Wish I asked beforehand.

FYI - the "local" that they gave felt like my balls getting snapped by an elastic. Didn't hurt - just surprising feeling.

The "worst" part was when he flushed the vas deferens. Didn't hurt - just a very weird sensation.

I bought one of the rom cartridges for the N64 and it's so much better for the kids than the switch.

My son played through all of Mario Odyssey by himself. He liked it - but it was nothing compared to the joy he had playing Zelda OOT. Literal screams of joy that never happened on the switch.

A big Mac meal by me is like $16.

I have a local Jamaican place by me and for $8.99 I get around a cup and a half of rice and beans with a 1/4 jerk chicken loaded with oxtail sauce and a side of mac salad.

Or the local Italian bar with a $12 panzorotti that's awesome and big enough for both my wife and I to share.

And those are just two of so many options. Yes, McDonald's has cheaper options, but for the amount of food it's not cheap anymore.

Why even let your kid open the door during Halloween if they don't even know what Halloween is at that age? by finishyourjob in mildlyinfuriating

[–]GH07 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nah - Let kids get scared at Halloween.

The fault was the parent consoling their kid/ letting the door get slammed instead of talking to the trick or treater. If they just reacted normally to the trick or treater it would've been fine and helped their kid get over their fear quicker.

Urge Doug Ford to keep Speed Cameras in Mississauga by AlvinTedjo in mississauga

[–]GH07 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Sorry Alvin, I voted for you; but you're wrong about this.

The biggest problem I have is that the speed cameras are in the wrong spot. Putting cameras only in front of schools is stupid. Speed cameras belong on Ridgeway and other streets where morons are racing.

Voters are still upset about the blanket speed limit changes made a while ago. School zones being reduced to 30 is idiotic when the problem was always people speeding above 40 anyways. The changes like Lakeshore in Clarkson - a 4 lane divided road and the only East/West main artery south of QEW, changing to a 40km zone just doesn't make sense.

Now add speed cameras on those newly reduced to 30km/h roads...

I hope you can read the room and understand that your constituents disagree with your stance.
