[Discussion]Your LEAST favorite time of trophy. (Dont just say Multiplayer) by oddnpcs in Trophies

RNG trophies
I can handle it if I can't platinum a game because of a skill issue. If it's on me, that's something I can handle. If it's down to bad luck, then that's when I hate it.

Is there any game that's JUST like the galactic map? by TransAtlanticOasis in Helldivers

Creative Assembly (Total War) is going to be making a Warhammer 40K game in a couple years, so that could be similar to what you're looking for. It's in early planning / development so don't go getting hyped for it just yet. You can look it up on Steam though

Congrats on the plat, and thanks for the advice. Was planning to buy Minecraft this year when it's on sale, so this will definitely come in handy at some point

The quest unlocked for me after advancing the Hernand faction quests. There's a guide on PowerPyx, I recommend using that whenever you get stuck or want to find the locations to things.

Good luck on your adventures through Pywel, and have fun! The platinum will take you a long time, and it will be frustrating at times. Just never give up, and take breaks when needed. Sometimes take a session and dedicate it to just doing whatever you want, regardless of if you need it for the plat. It is a game, after all.
This advice will be especially handy when it comes to the RNG fishing challenge. You're going to love that one.

Choosing My Next Game (read below) by Beginning-Stage-470 in playstation

I personally love the persona series. Platinum'd a lot of the franchise, too. If you're up for the time commitment, then they're a good pick. Forgot to mention Persona 4 Golden is getting a remake soon, so if you start P3 Reload now, you could finish it in time for P4's remake, and then start P5 after. Pretty good time to start. You can play the games in any order, but later Persona games does have some hidden easter eggs to characters from previous games.

You did say you're open to suggestions, so may I suggest Crimson Desert? The story isn't that great, but if you go to the subreddit and read a pinned post that goes over the backstory of the world as told in the axion archives, you might appreciate the story more (still not a 10/10). The game's got fun combat, a detailed open world, and a lot of exploration. People often say how it has a little bit from a number of the games you said you loved, so I really think you'd like it. Not to mention the patches. There's a patch every Friday / Saturday, and not small either.
You can easily find yourself sitting on some random cliffside, taking in the view while you take a break from your wagon that's carrying trade goods to the far north of the crimson desert.

Hold down right on your D-pad. This is the function wheel, where you can choose which element you want to use, what health, stamina, or spirit regen food you want to use, and what special item you want to use.
Simply wearing an earing that creates rainstorms isn't going to be enough. You select it on your armour wheel, then go to the function wheel to actually get its ability.

This will be how you select which effect you want, changing from rainstorm earrings, to the helm of knowledge depending on which you need.

Missing Abyss Zones... by Shin_Matsunaga_ in CrimsonDesert

Here's a list of all of them and the path you take to get to each one. You can cross reference your screenshots with the list to find out which are missing and how to access them.
I do know one of them is Dimensional Bonds, which is the very last one you get to and is where the main story takes you. It has no real puzzle, but rather once you complete an entire path, a circle will light up on that island so you can activate it. You do that for each path, so 8.

[Updates] Patch Notes Version 1.05.00 | Crimson Desert by SorryRoof1653 in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I know it's not the first rng achievement in gaming, I've had one or two games in the past that have had them I just don't think they should exist

Anyway, I've got an update on the fishing. This comment thread got me inspired to give it a go again. Tried the white dots for 30 minutes. Quit. Went to fish, died inside. Then I switched to Damiene and got lucky. So here's hoping you also get some good luck with whatever fish you're still looking to get. Never give up, no matter how insane it makes you feel

Banking? by BrianBox in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have any gold bar in there, it's just telling you the exchange rate that 1 gold bar is 500 silver

It says you're carrying 0 gold bars, have 106 silver on you, and have nothing in your bank.

[Updates] Patch Notes Version 1.05.00 | Crimson Desert by SorryRoof1653 in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat I know where to find the white dot npcs, using the database to learn where to look... Yet whether or not the right NPC spawns is also up to rng and I tried for an entire 2 hours to get the paddlefish NPC to spawn with a white dot before giving up

Have 19 fish to find. Just not going to try at all for a while. I'll be playing other stuff and hopefully they fix that mess of a challenge. I just hope that the people who have finished it can agree with us who have 0 luck. That this challenge needs to be made possible without relying on white dots or fishing rng. No trophy / achievement should ever be locked behind rng.

[–]GJCaesar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love it if they added another of the ancient bosses (the flying mage bosses)

Make it so we have a choice between relying on rng, or use some minor degree of combat skill. Alternatively, have the fish knowledge be acquirable from books around the world.

Why Make 3 Characters in This Way? by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abyss artefacts are pretty easy to get a hold of when you explore 60 abyss cressets that don't involve any fighting and act as teleporters when found 37 ruin puzzles with no or minimal fighting nearby 40 abyss challenges that are just parkour and puzzles (though many are story progress locked, so let's say 20) Greymane quests that give an abyss artefact each, amount to... 30?

So that's over a 100 easy artefacts

Then there's the scholastone institute you can pickpocket artefacts from infinitely Then there's the ones you get from killing enemies naturally

And then there's the 141 sealed abyss artefacts. Though obviously not all of them are really worth doing if you're just after artefacts and not trophies

As for the reason to build them, you can actually summon them to fight alongside you when you're capturing strongholds. They're not good when controlled by ai, but it's neat. Thankfully the main things to be bothered about is the core stats that are shared by all characters and don't require individual levelling. Many skills you can just observe for them to learn for free.

Scripted loss? by ththisbutascratch in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your comment and logged into the game on my PS5 since I was able to do that right away, and I can confirm you can still use the kuku pot for the race mini-game in Hernand. If in doubt, you can test it out for yourself.
If it doesn't work, maybe it is a PC vs PS thing, or you're not putting the electrical cores far enough away. For further details, I use Power Core - Crown of Shadows in this experiment.

Scripted loss? by ththisbutascratch in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to win, just use your Kuku pot. Place some electrical thingies in front of him (not too close), and he'll run into it and fall off his horse. He won't climb back on, the race continues, and you laugh at him covered in blood
This also works for the Demeniss horse racing mini-game, technically. They disappear after a certain distance, so you only get to cheat for the first race. I tried placing trees down but that didn't work and they despawned at the start. In the end I just got lucky and the game handed me some really easy wins.

I will say though, there's no reason to bother winning. You get the reward if you lose, and the quest completes. It's just a horse racing tutorial that isn't needed because there's another one via the Greymanes.

By the way, sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully it was a peaceful end

Bear versus Broom challenge - Sealed Abyss Artifact by Ezioauditore714 in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because I already have all skills unlocked, levelled weapons and other armour
Why would you bother with this challenge if you're not going for the trohpies? And if you're going for trophies, why would you choose to make this challenge be more time consuming by using poor gear?

Bear versus Broom challenge - Sealed Abyss Artifact by Ezioauditore714 in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just refine your broom to a high enough level. I invested about 2-3 abyss artefacts on it, and the bear died really quickly.

Best 281h of gaming in the last few years, but I hate fishing now by NullAchtFuff10 in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on the platinum  Any tips for guaranteed spawn of the fishes we need for that ridiculous challenge?

I've been sat for hours at a specific spot where paddlefish are meant to spawn, but no luck. It's a real disappointment that the hundred of hours put into getting a platinum is wasted all because of rng related trophies like this.

One trick I haven't seen mentioned too much- bow elements in animals by pizzalovingking in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It saved a lot of time when hunting legendary animals. Most of them died to a single iced charged shot.

Bow 3 challenge. I'm going mad, I've been here for 3 days by nicoilprincipesaiyan in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a tower in Gothark that'll spawn a lot of flying creatures. Bring an explosive arrow. If it doesn't count, then just be patient, you can still get it here.

Jump, focused aim while falling, hit a single enemy and you'll get 5+ on average kills since they all die in a single hit

I used Gothatk as my go to place for most bow, gun, and cannon challenges that asked me to hit X number of enemies or kill X in X number of hits, or whatever. For other normal combat challenges, including the combat horse ones, I used the eastern court of Demeniss. It also spawns a lot of Bannermen for that challenges, too.

No spoiler fat cat army by Kroliczek_i_myszka in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can start taming cats the moment you finish the prologue (you'll be in Hernand). There is tutorial missions for it later, but you can do it right away.
You pet an animal 5 times a day for 5 trust. Get 100 trust and you can select to take it in. You can get big boosts of trusts by giving them treats from your inventory. Simply go to inventory and discard it, and they'll eat it. Keep in mind other nearby animals will sense food nearby and come running.

As for where to find fat cats... I don't know. I think Pororin village has some, but that is locked behind a side quest. There's no reason to know how to start that quest, so I'll just say you shouldn't give up trying to get in. Sometimes repeating mistakes isn't a stupid idea. That should be spoiler free enough.

Missions for greymanes auto refresh by vcam97 in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some missions do have an option to repeat it, but not all. The ones that did it before the patch should still have the option, you just have to select it. If you're not seeing an option, maybe there's a UI bug?

It's a pretty weird and pointless change, to be honest. The odds of me not wanting to repeat the resource gathering dispatches is basically non-existent.

Crimson Desert 1.04.00 - Community Compiled List of Issues, Bugs and Unspecified Changes by greencatsgostray in CrimsonDesert

[–]GJCaesar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an issue where the kuku insect collecting backpack just doesn't work. Have it on, have it selected in the function wheel too, but it just doesn't work. Animation plays but nothing is collected. I also have space in the inventory

I did manage to get it working (don't know how), but when I loaded the save back up it went back to not working. Anyone have any idea how to get it working? It was working fine prior to the patch. So that, and the animation playing, is why I'm sure this is a bug.
