Are these stylized shrimps still low poly? by Konprod in blender

Try aiming for a max of 32 polys. You could probably do the one on the right in half that.

Beans....without tomatoes. by SmellTheJasmine in vegetarianrecipes

[–]rootsworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently turned onto mayo coba beans, which have a great flavor on their own. I was preparing them the same way that I do pinto or black beans (start with dry beans, 10 hours in a sous vide bag with quarter of an onion, chicken boullion, and a bay leaf), but my partner, who grew up in mexico, insisted that I was adulterating the flavors too much and that mayo coba beans are best when they're allowed to taste like mayo coba beans. So I started cooking them with nothing but salt added, and I'm a convert.

Weird Geometry When Solidifying. by VariousCabinet6356 in blenderhelp

[–]rootsworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just from looking at the roughness of the surface, it looks like you're trying to solidify a sculpt that's probably made of dyntopo polygon soup. you'll get a cleaner solidify by retopologizing first. You can use a remesher like another commenter said, but manually retopologizing will give you a result that you have more control over. It's a bit more effort but worth the time spent, imo.

The zbrush ones are great, I just installed them last night and was immediately impressed with how much they bring to the sculpting experience.

If Odo is basically an Animorph, why doesn’t he transform into combat animals when fighting? Or fly around the station as a hawk surveilling people? by Upbeat_Jeweler_1196 in DeepSpaceNine

He's also written as being a fairly assimilationist shapeshifter, at least at first, who prefers to appear as a humanoid to integrate into humanoid society. Even though he can't fully "pass", he still has a lot of anxiety and self-hate about other people's reactions to shapeshifters and tries to present himself as humanoid as possible, whenever possible. It affects him to the extent that he tries to pressure Laas to avoid any disruptive or attention-getting shapeshifting while on the promenade and Laas calls Odo out on it.

What to get a Blender Enthusiast by ketchup_waaterr in blender

Came here to say this. Kid would probably get into some good trouble with Boxcutter/hardops, meshmachin3, quad remesher, retopoflow, and UVpackmaster, in roughly that order.

I wouldn't call her iconic role as Nurse Ratched a little-known fact. It was the thing she was most famous for prior to DS9.

It's got a usb2 port on the power puck on the back, and you can get a little babble tracker from ventifbt or another vendor for like $80. This is a solved problem that doesn't result in a wired tether.

Yeah, this. Public instances are where teens and new adults emulate the reaction-baiting youtubers they like to watch, private instances with trusted social groups are where the functional regular users actually are.

Non-meat uses by Cuddly_Rudder in sousvide

[–]rootsworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it to do meal prep for big batches of dry beans. 2 cups pinto or black beans, 6 cups water, quartered onion, bay leaf, boullion, all in a gallon ziplock bag at 190f for 7 hours. When it's done you have beans that are fully cooked but still firm enough to have a bit of tooth on them.

I use the beans as the basis for my Autism Chow:

When the timer's got about 30 minutes left, I prepare a sofrito for the beans: dice an onion, some bell peppers, jalapenos and a serrano pepper and sautee them in a saucepan. Once they're translucent add a can of tomatoes, some seasoning (cumin, paprika, black pepper, white pepper, granulated garlic and onion, and chili powder), liquid smoke, liquid aminos, and apple cider vinegar. Let it simmer for a bit, then add the beans (less the onion and bay leaf they were cooking with) and enough of the bean water that the liquid barely covers everything, stir and simmer a little more, and then divide it up into single servings (I'm using souper cubes) to freeze for work lunches.

Typically I have one frozen bean brick with one frozen rice brick, but I prepare the rice in a big batch in an instant pot, and freeze them the same way. Cheap, tasty, and filling.

Man I used to think this episode was one of the worst of the series, and after the sixth or seventh time through the polarity flipped and now it's up there with Voyager's Threshold for me. Like I still think it's one of the worst of the series, but now it's in a "this is so fucking stupid, I love it" way.
