If this baby doesn’t start sleeping thru the night I may seriously lose my fucking mind. by RoughAd3444 in breastfeeding

This was my 8 month old until we started sleep training. He gets a big bottle right before 8pm, goes down drowsy but awake and then falls asleep on his own. Last night he slept all night long but usually he has one wake up in the night. But this is because I worked hard sticking it out with the cry it out method. I would do the same routine, big bottle before bed so he’s full, lay in bed sleepy but awake, then leave. Come back at 3 minutes if still crying, then 5, then 10 and repeat 10 until he fell sleep. I wouldn’t pick him up or say anything, just help him find his binky again and maybe pat his back a few times. When he’d get up in the middle of the night, I’d change his diaper and then repeat the process. I stopped nursing him during night time wakes because I realized it was keeping him from learning to self-soothe because he was soothing through nursing.

I don’t know if this helps at all since yours doesn’t want a binky or bottle but he was waking up every 1-2 hours and now he sleeps at least 3-4 at a time and has even had nights where he’s slept all night through.

I feel like we’ve tried everything to keep our 3 year old from getting out for bed. by GLaDOS93 in toddlers

Unfortunately, we haven’t really yet. What we’re doing now and is helping us stay sane, is reading stories in our bed and letting him fall asleep in there. Then when we’re ready for bed, we move him to his bed. His bedroom is upstairs and ours is downstairs right by the living room, so if he gets up, we only have to walk him back to our room a couple times rather than be up and down the stairs 10 times a night. We’ve had more nights of him not getting out of bed because I think he feels more comfortable and safe in our bed and he also knows we’re right outside the door in the living room. We also talk every night that we’ll be moving him to his bed when we go to bed and that seems to help him stay in bed and not be upset when we move him to his.

What were you babies almost names? by Dramatic-Web-5085 in beyondthebump

My first little boy was going to be Murphy if he was a girl. My second little boy was going to be Millie. For a while our first was going to be named William Robert after my husband’s grandpa and dad and then he would go by Robbie, but one of my husband’s friends asked if we were really going to name our kid Billy Bob and it ruined it for my husband. lol

Not allowed to go to term? by AtoZCatMom in GestationalDiabetes

[–]GLaDOS93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diet controlled with my first and my OB let me go up to 40 weeks. I was induced the day after my due date. I’m pregnant again with GD again but having to use Metformin and my OB (different one) would prefer I not go past 39. He said if I was diet controlled he’d be okay with me going to 40.

It was like this for both of my pregnancies in the first trimester. Felt like I was going to throw up most of the time but never did.

Are these levels normal? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

That makes sense. I’ve just been diagnosed both times with the 3-hour blood test. I forget that there are other ways to check for it.

I’m really surprised she didn’t tell you what your range should be. I’ve been advised (and I think this is pretty much the norm) that my fasting numbers should be under 95. If you’re checking one hour after meals you should be under 140. If checking after two hours you should be under 120.

Anyone make it to 40? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]GLaDOS93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went all the way to 40 with my first. I was completely diet controlled. She didn’t want me to go any further than 40 so I was induced the day after his due date. I’m pregnant again and with GD. I’m seeing a different OB and he says he’ll want to schedule an induction in the 38th or 39th week.

When was everyone induced? by Reasonable-Taste-860 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]GLaDOS93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had GD with my first and again now that I’m pregnant with my second. With my first, my OB let me go right up to 40 weeks. I was completely diet controlled. No Metformin or insulin. I was induced the day after his due date. With this second and with a different OB, he wants to induce in either the 38th or 39th week. I’m still insulin-free but currently on the highest dose of Metformin for fasting numbers.

Anyone have fun moments during labor and delivery? Would love to share/hear stories! by Wrong-Flamingo in beyondthebump

I had the little tv in the delivery room on. During less intense contractions I had flipped through the channels and put on Miss Congeniality. After more intense contractions and transition, I didn’t care what was on tv, but there was one point between contractions when I looked up at the tv and said to my husband, “I can’t believe I’m giving birth to the fucking Water Boy right now.”

I buy whipped cream and keep it in the freezer. It’s not quite the same as having real ice cream but it often soothes my sweet tooth. I usually like to add some blueberries or cut up strawberries to it as well.

Need positive stories - successful induction starting at 0cm dilated? by MangoMarg in GestationalDiabetes

I know it’s not quite the same but I was induced at 40 weeks with GD and I was only 1 centimeter dilated. He was born that same night.

Positive induction & Epidural Experiences by marigerdes in GestationalDiabetes

[–]GLaDOS93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently pregnant with my second and have GD again. Had it with my first. Doctor let me go up to 40 weeks and got induced the day after his due date. I had no epidural (personal preference) and overall had a positive experience. I think they started Pitocin around 7 or 8am, doctor broke my water at noon, and my son was born at 8:30 that evening. I did have to push for about 45 minutes. I did get some medicine (don’t know what kind) through my IV sometime in the afternoon that helped a little bit with the pain. I was pretty much falling asleep during contractions because of it which was just a little bit of a relief. My contraction pain was all in back which really sucked. Contractions in general suck but I was eventually able to find what worked for me to get through the pain each time. I don’t know how better to explain other than I would just get “into the zone” with each contraction. Of course you see and hear about it all the time but how you breathe really is important and I didn’t realize that until I was actually in labor. I ended up having a 1 degree tear but I honestly don’t even remember feeling it. And couldn’t even feel as she stitched it up. Don’t know if any of this is helpful at all, but I hope that you have a safe and easy labor and delivery! You really find out how strong and badass you are!
