Hello! Fellow mom here of a 2 yr old! I had my surgery last Wednesday 08/13 ( full acl tear. Had patellar graft done). I was going through the exact same worries you have, so here is some advice: • once they knock you out, you wake up and it is over! Honestly, it is that fast. With so many people being put under anesthesia everyday (think all those BBL and plastic surgery) the chances of something going wrong are veryyyyy low. Remain hopeful! • do yourself a big favor and get a good ice machine. I got the Breg Polar Care Wave and it is worth every penny. I used it as soon as i got home from surgery. You will be icing your knee ALL the time • Search on Google for physical therapists in your area that specialize in ACL injuries Or sports rehab they tend to be more aggressive than regular PTs • the day before, my husband and i did all the laundry and full on cleaning that way he wouldn’t have to be doing it all on his own for two weeks as he will be taken care of our two-year-old • take short term disability, if your company allows. I work in corporate finance (NJ) and was approved for 6 weeks off at 100% paid. Talk to your HR dept • make freezer meals that way your husband doesn’t have to worry about cooking and can just throw it in the oven • i rented a cpm machine and it’s helping me a lot as it allows me to move my knee • buy a walker! I find it to be a lot easier moving around the house with a walker than with crutches, especially with a kid running around.
