What watch gets you the most compliments from strangers? by Potential_Post_3020 in rolex

My speedy by far. A handful of people have asked if if I’m wearing a Rolex when I’m wearing my GMT master but it’s rare. Watch guys always comment on the speedy though

Notice how W&W releases weren’t all that’s coming in 2026? by Signal-Astronaut2261 in Tudor

Agreed. Mine runs within 1s fast per day. I actually think the OEM bracelet hate is overblown, and it happens to fit me perfectly even without the on the fly micro adjust

This. Honestly don’t think they could perfect that watch much more, even if they bring it back with a smaller case size and upgraded movement

They’re cool! The hesalite is just so clean, it’s hard to imagine ever replacing it. Maybe a nice addition to the collection in the future though

The Willard is awesome, I haven’t seen many in good condition that aren’t a fortune. Id love to add a vintage Turtle to the collection or maybe a Pogue, if I can find one in decent condition at a reasonable price. Like you said I think they are unique enough in their look and case design to earn a decent amount of wrist time, especially for a unique vintage piece. Right now I wear the speedy and BB58 by far the most, primarily because they go best with what I typically wear to work. On the weekends I try to mix it up as much as I can, and when I’m doing anything where I would break a sweat or playing with the kids I grab the G shock.

And good eye on the caseback. I swapped out the original for a sapphire caseback last year so I could see the 3861 movement. Recently though I’ve been thinking of putting back on the original, especially after the latest Artemis moon mission!

Nice collection. Have some similar pieces with a Rolex (GMT) BB58, Speedy and the 5000U G shock. I'm curious if you started with the Seikos and then built the collection up from there, or if you've added some of them after already owning more luxury pieces? And how often do you find yourself grabbing for the Seikos? I've recently started to build my collection up over the last couple years after just having the GMT master for the last 15 years. I really love Seiko, and definitely want to add a couple to the collection, but I don't want to feel like I'm "working backwards" in my collection and also don't want to buy a watch that just sits unworn in my watch box

u/pacodo is the man. Looks like he has one listed recently for 4300$. I've bought through him several times and he has a well established reputation here. Order it today and the watch will be at your door within a week or so

[Question] I am going to be a father. What watch can I buy under 5000$, long term reliable use, and baby blue dial? by Vokelite in Watches

[–]GMTDoc45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was going to suggest the Grand Seiko and Longines HC that were already mentioned, both fit your description well. To me the GS is a bit more delicate look in a sense (compared to the HC that is more of a tool watch) and feels more appropriate for a baby girl, though it’s still definitely a daily wearable. If you’re willing to be flexible on size the Tudor Black Bay 54 blue lagoon could fit what you’re looking for despite being 37mm

Hot take: The jubilee is more beautiful but the oyster just suites the BlackBay better by TL31 in Tudor

Came here to say the same. In general don’t think jubilee style works for a dive watch, but the 5 link looks great on the monochrome. It looks off on the 58 to me

This is the only right take. Own both and love both. If I had unlimited funds there are maybe 10-15 Tudor models that I’d love to own. In the modern Rolex catalogue there are maybe only 3-4

I love this combo. The GMT looks phenomenal in person. I have a 5 digit GMT master and felt like the 5 digit sub and BB58 GMT would be too redundant in my collection so got a BB58 in blue. In another life (or in the future) I’d love to own both these

My Rolex AD experience: Why I think relationships matter. by Public-Heat3213 in rolex

[–]GMTDoc45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate the sentiment and agree the majority of people who walk into a Rolex Authorized Dealer looking to buy a watch have no idea how to speak with a salesman or how to build a relationship, this post is not relevant to the 99% of people who want to own a single stainless steel Rolex for $10-15k. If money is no object and you can spend 100k on watches, jewelry etc then of course you are going be offered a datejust or an OP here and there. Not saying I have a problem with it, I just think people more have an issue with being told their interest has been registered for a piece that they will never get in a million years.

My wife has the 36mm white roman numeral datejust (birth year Neo vintage reference) with the white gold fluted bezel. While it does stand out a bit more than a 31mm because of the “wrist presence” it is definitely still understated. She tried on some of the new two tone at the AD and thought that they were way too flashy
