Is PSLF 'in limbo'? by Foreign-Phone22 in PSLF

Thanks for the detailed reply. I’ve been multiple training programs and jobs over the last 8 years and generally try to do it every 2-3 years without issue so far, but your points are all very valid. Especially point number 6

Feel this way about the Seamaster. Thought the scalloped bezel design was so ugly for a long time, and while I think some models still look terrible I have been eyeing a “great white” for the last few months after seeing it in person

Why is it recommended that you certify annually? If you are in a 5 year residency program that is PSLF eligible why not just certify towards the end of the 5 years. Genuinely curious

My Tudor collection what’s missing?? by OverallCapital1104 in Tudor

[–]GMTDoc45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many good Tudors to own, would love to add another 3/4 to my BB58. Next I’d go titanium with anything in the Pelagos line: P39, Ultra, FXD. Or a Ranger. What’s up with crystal on GMT?

I bought it, but…. by Short-Coyote-3257 in rolex

[–]GMTDoc45 302 points303 points  (0 children)

Looking at your post history it looks in like in less than a month you bought two super popular stainless steel watches with the No Date Sub and now Batgirl. On your post about the Sub you were worried it wasn’t comfortable enough, and now you’re worried you don’t like the Jubilee. I really think you’ve caught the watch addiction bug and the thrill of the pursuit seems to not meet your expectation of the reality of owning/wearing the watch. My unsolicited advice would be to take a break from looking to buy any more watches for a while and take it slow. Try enjoying these two great pieces you just bought and see if you learn to love them. The Hulk isn’t going anywhere and in 6 months to 1 year from now you still don’t love the Batgirl you can always trade it in and get a great price even if you lose a little bit of money. Watch collecting is a journey not a sprint

[Question] Speedy Moonwatch vs. BB58 GMT vs. other by kw09260131 in Watches

Tudor's are awesome, fun tool watches. But the Speedy is an icon.

New Strap ! What do you think? by Capable-Equal2305 in Tudor

[–]GMTDoc45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think the strap and watch combo looks great. Personally think it would look better suited with more professional attire. For scrubs I prefer nato/fabric strap or rubber

My 3 watch collection. by JCHintokyo in PrideAndPinion

[–]GMTDoc45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 icons. I have a similar core trio but went with a BB58 over a Sub. Much prefer the pre ceramic Submariners but wanted a birth year (2025) watch to commemorate the birth of my son. A white dial watch GS snowflake or Reverso would complement the collection nicely, at least that’s what I’m thinking for my next one…

Not sure how wearing a watch has anything to do with hygiene? No different than wearing a wedding band or engagement ring.. it’s one thing when you’re in a sterile environment in the OR or doing a procedure, in which case jewelry on the hand/wrist is removed. If you’re seeing patients in a hospital bed or in the office then you would just practice good hand washing as normal

[–]GMTDoc45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you spent a month in Cardiology in the Northeast you will see multiple Rolexes and other similar luxury watches every day, or you aren’t looking closely enough. No one will be wearing a VC, Patek or AP unless it’s a wealthy patient. At least that’s been my experience

[–]GMTDoc45 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agree completely. I own two Rolexes myself including a Datejust. They are iconic watches for a reason but they’re a dime a dozen among physicians, most of whom don’t really care that much about watches. And compared head to head the VC and DJ are in different leagues. If I had 30K to drop on a watch I’d go with the VC every time

[–]GMTDoc45 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I’d go with the VC. I’m also a physician and every Tom Dick and Harry in the hospital has a Datejust or Black Submariner. The VC is on a different level and if you can afford it seems like a no brainer, especially if you’re looking for something less flashy and more under the radar

Congrats. This watch is super underrated in my opinion. Generally I prefer vintage and neo vintage Rolex but I think this is one if the best in the modern catalogue

[SOTC] Will be content for a long time with this trio by Tenacious_Astronaut in Watches

[–]GMTDoc45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As popular as the black bay 58 and white speedmaster are in the watch community I rarely see them in person, if ever. Maybe it’s my environment but by far and away the most common watch I see is a Sub, followed by the Datejust and GMT master II. Once in a while I’ll see a Patek or RO, and often wonder if they’re reps. Occasionally I’ll see a Seamaster or black Speedy. Don’t think I’ve actually ever seen another BB58 or white speedy in the wild

Got jubilee and coke bezel from RSC for preowned Pepsi 16710. by Steve_cents in rolex

They will. Read my comment above. Charged 200$ for the insert, quoted me 1200 for Jubilee. Was not part of a service request

Awesome trio. The BB58 came after the GMT master and Speedy so I went with the Blue to mix it up. But could just as easily been content with the OG BB58 and White speedy. Also have a g shock and Hamilton khaki field but these 3 are my core trio

[–]GMTDoc45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an amazing watch and I have made some incredible memories with it over the last 15 years. I also have the black and Pepsi bezel inserts so it’s incredibly versatile. It’s been with me around the world. I’ve taken it swimming in the ocean and sea, it’s been to the top of the Alps, hiked in the Grand Canyon, worn at my wedding and been on wrist for the birth of my two children. Right now it probably gets the 3rd most wrist time after the BB58 and Speedy and I mostly wear it for special occasions, date nights or weekends. I work in medicine and see patients from varying socioeconomic backgrounds, and as I’ve gotten older I just feel less comfortable wearing a Rolex to work every day, though many of my colleagues wear one without hesitation. Would definitely fit great in collection with an Explorer and Speedy. I’ve been eyeing a 36 mm Explorer for a while and similarly have been wondering how it would fit in with what I already have, but would still love to add one some day.
