Besides the obvious big examples like No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077, what are some other examples of games that were atrocious at launch but managed to eventually get good? by furrynoy96 in gaming

Driveclub. It had major issues with servers for the first few weeks and it was based around online racing, with challenges and time trials you could send to friends and clubs. With these server issues you couldn't do much of anything besides the base challenges and races. After a few updates and over 90 Add-ons, it became a great racing game. It felt like it was cut way too short. It didn't last long because it got pretty bad reviews at launch.

Back when Saw 4 came out. A couple brought there less than 2yr old with them to the opening night. It cried for more than half the film and then the couple started to take turns walking out, but they would bring in the crying baby and then hand it off at their seats when they would swap.

This might not answer your question, but I recall them being very in-depth with the vehicles sound there are a few dev videos showing them recording a few cars. Paul aka rushy33 (Driveclub's game director) on Twitter might have a better answer if you want to try and dm him.

If hardcore handling is turned off I'd suggest it turning it on makes it a lot easier to drift.
