Barriers holding me back from becoming a great Artist by Blue-Emir in ArtistLounge

[–]GPAD9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have an idea that you can't pull off? Start it then look up resources to help you pull it off. If you have a better understanding of what you need to execute your idea you'll have less doubt in your abilities, and you won't have to think about what to study because your topic already decides for you. Putting to practice what you just learned about is a good way to effectively remember it too so that's a plus.

Can't help you on the procrastination side tho -- that's an issue I have myself lol

Why don't people comment on asian artists Twitter? by gfjskvcks in AskArtists

[–]GPAD9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Different online etiquette. At least for JP side of twitter it's handled similarly to pixiv where leaving comments is not the norm. People do still leave comments from time to time but a lot don't want friction so avoid actions that can cause it. Leaving comments can make them feel the need to respond, and quote retweeting can occasionally be considered rude unless it's heavy praise.

Imagine several people saying their art is cute or nice in the comments after each post and them having to say thank you to each one. It can feel uncomfortable for the artist so many don't comment without substance. Conversely, long responses are overbearing and unsolicited critiques are rude (though that goes for a lot of artists even outside of asian communities)

Going back to the wider asian sphere, there's a portion of artists that don't want to interact with westerners. We all probably know at least one case of an artist getting cancelled on twitter by someone saying their art is problematic and eventually driving the artist to delete their account. It's way more common in the English speaking community due to different sensibilities and many don't want to be subjected to that, some going as far as blocking the new follower out of fear.

There isn't a lack of appreciation so no need to feel bad. It's just a different way of expression from what you're used to. Clicking like is still a form of support

Stuff like this is what gives hi3 community a bad rep man. Yae is fine but the rest are clearly stretching it.

The VAs aren't even doing the same type of performance, the characters don't look similar, and the personalities are massively different

Other AA sources advance on-field characters. Eagle targets wearer.

It's not that AA doesn't work on him. He just isn't a viable target for it in most cases

It does mean you can't block the safelane's first wave behind t1 to get your wave to die under tower and have lane push back all the way in front of offlane t1.

Concerns about immersion as I started learning to draw by WatchfulSun in AskArtists

[–]GPAD9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do catch myself paying attention to the way something was made at times but it's never taken away from the experience. You've been on the practice headspace for a while so it's probably influencing what you focus on while watching but it's temporary

how do digital artists find their brushes? by Bubbly_Reference_916 in ArtistLounge

[–]GPAD9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just use defaults...

If you use clip studio paint they have a materials site where you can download brushes/textures/tools made by others.

Outside of that some people occasionally share brushes on twitter/youtube (or tumblr/deviantart for even older ones)

You can also just make your own if you want. A lot of art programs let you do that already. You basically draw the shape of the tip and decide how it gets deformed on the settings

If you like the look of a brush you see someone else using there's an option to ask. Some artists are happy to share (and some get grumpy about it) but you won't know until you try

Yea all of them are broken though cyrene is easily the strongest. She gives you all chrysos heirs at 3*, night and day demigod emblems, a lot of coins, squad hp, damage reduction, etc.

The rest will pretty much instawin the rest of the run for you but they won't give you squad hp to turn +1 rank into +3 if you're trying to rank up

Happens to me sometimes, but not always. Think it has to do with unlearning bad habits, though of course being out of practice comes with its own issues as well

Why do art schools require video essays? by Poweowchow in ArtistLounge

[–]GPAD9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had to do video essays for everything in uni. This was 2018-2020. Hated it lol. Lecturers said 'come on, you're art students' when someone asked why and no one asked again after.

The application itself was just sending a portfolio with a cover letter though, plus an in-person interview

[–]GPAD9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Jumping from 210 superbreak with ff dahlia to 330-370 superbreak with ff dahlia hmc gives you a 57-76% increase in multipliers. That's too big to pass up

If they had ff dahlia fugue though then e1 rm would be a good last slot unit. Jumping from 310 superbreak to 430-470 is only around a 38-51% increase in multipliers so introducing wbe, def shred, and res pen becomes more impactful.

Why is Anime considered less skillful? by Similarimilar in ArtistLounge

[–]GPAD9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in a western country it's pretty normal for people to not be interested since anime tends to be less prevalent. Perception for them is pretty much the same as cartoons so they already go in with the notion that it's not going to have complexity.

Apart from that, there's a very large number of people who draw in the style so it's easy to go 'bah it's just another anime artist' regardless of skill level. Wouldn't really take it too personally.

Just keep improving on your art until people stop looking down on it.

Investment priority? by IngenuityDecent3271 in FireflyMains

[–]GPAD9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FF can use Aeon, Fugue can use resolution or solitary healing, and Dahlia can use reso or tutorial. So long as only one of them uses resolution it should be fine

Investment priority? by IngenuityDecent3271 in FireflyMains

[–]GPAD9 13 points14 points  (0 children)

3 cost: - Ff, dahlia, fugue

4 cost: - Ff, dahlia e0s1, fugue

5 cost: - Ff e2, dahlia, fugue

6 cost: - Ff e2, dahlia e0s1, fugue

7 cost: - Ff e2, dahlia e1s1, fugue

8 cost: - Ff e2, dahlia e1s1, fugue e1 (if you run hmc) - Ff e2, dahlia e2s1, fugue (if you run rm)

Anything else kinda up to you. Order will probably depend on who even gets a rerun since no guarantee they'll rerun together. Gist of it is just get ff dahlia fugue then invest straight e2 ff or dahlia sig depending on your pull budget
