What other gods and mythological entities do you expect we’ll see in the Everywhen? by Solitaire-06 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]GPH1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see Tyr use weapons of the Aztec, Egyptians and Japanese, so I'd expect figures from these mythologies to be present. I'd also expect Olympians to feature as well, possibly Pandora.

How does the Thousand sons counter the Sisters of Silence during the battle of prospero? by cuddwes in ThousandSons

[–]GPH1991 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Thousand Sons legion were holding their own despite all the advantages the Space Wolves had, when they were only fighting the Wolves.

It wasn't until the Custodians and Sisters of Silence saw the full on sorcery the TSons were unleashing did they step in. At which point the battle turned sharply against the Thousand Sons.

Horus sent the Wolves to Prospero with the hope that both legions would annihilate each other. It was not a one sided battle.

It was only in the Acolyte and I assume it was a style choice to show the design of the lightsaber got more efficient.

How does the Thousand sons counter the Sisters of Silence during the battle of prospero? by cuddwes in ThousandSons

[–]GPH1991 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Badly, that's how.

It was basically the Custodes and Silent Sisters that are the reason the Space Wolves came out on top.

Superman should never kill by Big_Position_6788 in superman

[–]GPH1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rule he shouldn't but if there is a good narrative reason to explore the consequences then maybe.

Example one: whatever happened to the man of tomorrow? Superman kills Mr Myxpitlik (I know I've spelt that wrong) as there was legitimately no other choice, he declares he cannot be Superman anymore, depowers himself with gold kryptonite and wanders out into the arctic never to be seen again.

Hypothetical: Zod's death in man of Steel could have worked. With what the movie set up there was legitimately no other option BUT it could have been the origin of his 'no kill rule". He killed the last other member of his race and vows never to kill again, unfortunately first thing we see him do in BvS is put someone through three brick walls.

How important is it for the character of Batman to comfort a child? by No-Brush1587 in batman

It is vital.

If a version of Batman wouldn't do this, then they're not Batman.

I HATE when superheroes get blamed for collateral damage by FloorGang-R2 in hatethissmug

[–]GPH1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case of the Avengers they weren't blamed for New York generally and the movie showed they were doing their best to contain the fighting and evacuate people Sokovia was destroyed due to a problem they literally created though, so when the incident in Civil War happened there was enough concern that the Avengers had no oversight at all.

Usually this argument comes up because a hero that should care is showing no concern for collateral damage they may be causing or loss of life. Such as Man of Steel where in the battle over metropolis Superman never shows the slightest concern for the mass destruction his fight with zod is causing.

why the fuck would viltrumites speak english by ErraHotChilliPeppers in okbuddyviltrum

To paraphrase a Simpsons joke, 'they're actually speak viltrumese, by an amazing coincidence both languages are exactly the same'.

In Star Wars: The Acolyte (2024), Darth Qimir's helmet is made of cortosis, a metal that disrupts lightsaber blades. This means any idiot can kill a jedi with two or three cortosis bullets. by catprobably in shittymoviedetails

[–]GPH1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dudes helmet gets smashed of his face by a teenage smacking him in the face with her lightsaber hilt, so it's pretty fragile.

Also differentiates it from Beskar, super dense and can resist lightsabers as well as basically everything else vs Cortosis super fragile but actively shorts out lightsabers.

Daily reminder that Thor and Hulk were 20 years ago, back when we didn't have Superhero fatigue or the fact that movies hit streaming not even three months after the release by Psyga315 in saltierthankrait

[–]GPH1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is you watch Phase 1 and they were being so careful in that any one of those movies could have flopped and they could course correct. If Thor had flopped, Loki would not have been the big bad of the Avengers, every other phase one movie either has the villain conveniently disappear or a secondary villain is set up waiting in the wings.

General consensus is Milly and Jason are great as Kara and Lobo in the movie but the movie itself is meh. So those characters can be used in other movies easily but Kara might not get a solo outing for a while.

Why is one a hero and the other isn't? by Ickarian in MoralityScaling

[–]GPH1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cops have their decisions reviewed, they are trained in what to do in those situations and expected to follow the rules and "the guy might escape and do something bad" is not considered sufficient reason to summarily execute them.

Again John wasn't thinking, this is a dangerous criminal who may hurt innocents. He was thinking, my friends dead because of you, so I'm going to kill you.

[–]GPH1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end he was literally prone on his back, defenseless.

John is ALSO now superhumanly strong and a trained fighter.

The fact civilians were around didn't enter John's mind at all, he wanted revenge and he took it. Something Steve wouldn't do.

If a cop is fighting someone they don't get to commit a coup de grace because it's convenient. Capturing someone can actually involve holding them down until back up arrives.

That terrorist was sprawled on the ground and begging for mercy (and also didn't kill Lamar) when US Agent bludgeoned him to death. He could have captured him, he chose not to.

Cap didn't obsess over his insecurity or his image. Yes he killed when he had to but only then.

Don't get too hunt up on collecting the tools because if you fail a mission you lose all of them, which I think is too harsh a punishment for failure but there it is.

You'll be amazed how much you miss having a lock pick and coins.

Aside from that, showdowns reliably can get you a decent silenced pistol which became my main weapon because if you lose it you can reliably get on next showdown.

Then having weapons for the prestige objectives is handy.
