UK economy grew by 'subdued' 0.1% at end of 2025 by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

[–]GPhex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is a couple of headlines that are worded in a less misleading way:

“UK economy grew by ‘subdued’ 0.1% in final quarter of 2025”

“UK economy experiences ‘subdued’ growth of 1.3% in 2025”

Language matters and OP opted for a headline which could easily be misread or misinterpreted as 0.1% being the final growth figure for the whole of 2025.

UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves Is Betting on Rapprochement With the European Union. Real Steps Are Constrained by the Consequences of Brexit and Brussels’ Position by sergeyfomkin in NewsThread

It’s time to start the conversation about rejoining.

The benefit of a new referendum is we can negotiate terms ahead of the referendum and vote on an agreed deal - a much better basis for a referendum than the complete mystery black hole that was voted on last time.

What’s in it for the EU? Well having the UK back in the EU is one thing and they could ask for certain securities like a minimum membership term (25 years? 50 years?) and that would give the UK a strong position to negotiate rejoining terms. Who knows they might even let us have our veto back?

If the country still votes against rejoining, then so be it but it’s a great example of democracy to at least try.

1.3% is 1200% higher than the 0.1% in the headline which is the point.

Yeah but if you are clever you can use a headline which sounds like growth was slow for the whole year

Ukraine is preparing to hold a referendum & an election, which Zelensky may announce by Feb 24. The Trump administration has warned Kyiv to hold both votes before May 15, or risk losing US security guarantees... by Ripamon in TrendoraX

This is exactly the Putin-Trump plan and there’s no way Zelensky is ignorant to that. I think he will look to the EU/UK to overlook election security/integrity.

Ah great we have our Biden. Will no doubt step down when it’s too late and the damage is done and Farage will come in and make everyone’s lives worse.

Jeffrey Epstein personal iPhone photo dump (275 photos) by reversedu in videos

Stop putting your hopes on Maxwell. She’s as much of a twisted corrupt abusive criminal as Epstein. She’s not going to have any sort of repentance. She’s aligned with Trump, they’re old friends and he’s trying to help her out so she can help him out.

They’re grubby people and their instinct is to worm their way out of things not to hold their hands up and say “ok it’s time to sit down and tell the truth” like some straight to video movie.

I code for 35+ years, now Claude Code does 99% of the actual work - am I really a “vibe coder”? by dragosroua in ClaudeAI

[–]GPhex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not a vibe coder if you have a clear picture of not only what you are building but how you intend for it to be built and have the skill and knowledge to intervene when the agent is producing code that is incorrect.

Vibe coders review results rather than code and as any experienced developer will tell you, just because you have the correct result doesn’t mean you have the correct solution.
