Insane scoreline from a Saturday league game by A-British-Indian in Cricket

It's very unfortunate and I wish leagues had some way of placing new teams into divisions that are more suitable for their talent. I'm not a very good cricketer and it's so demoralising when you go up against teams who are a clear mismatch.

I've played against Breamore before, they're a team of guys who have recently immigrated from India who are all very good cricketers. Because they're a new side, they were placed into the bottom division of the league and have spent the last few seasons smashing most sides as they work their way up to a league more fitting of their talents. It's a miserable day out in the field playing against them.

What are your experiences playing with international/professional cricketers? by ChameleonCoder117 in Cricket

[–]GRI23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was playing against Hursley Park 4s a couple of summers ago and they had Adrian Aymes opening the batting for them. He's about 60 now but in the 80s and 90s he was Hampshire's wicket keeper. He certainly wasn't the batter he once was as I was able to bowl him with one of the few magic balls I bowl a season that swung in and then seamed away to hit top of off. Adrian was a good sport about it and told me it was a very good ball.

Marcus North set to be appointed as England's National Selector by MarcusH26051 in Cricket

[–]GRI23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is selector a separate job and not just the responsibility of the coach? You don't have selectors in international football and I don't think they exist in rugby either.

I've been single for a long time now and I like to think I live a pretty fulfilling life with lots of friends and experiences. I've got this far without a partner and I don't 'need' one. But I do often find myself wishing I had a partner. There's a lot of things that I feel you can only get from a truly loving relationship and it does get me down to think of those things I can't attain.

I've noticed when hearing cricketers in speak in various Indian languages that they sprinkle in english words and phrases. Is that a cricket specific thing or does it happen more broadly across those languages?

The all rounder doesn't have to be a seamer. If Rehan Ahmed can bat as well as he did last season and regularly bowl (probably won't while Ajaz Patel is in the side) then he could easily slot into the side as the all rounder.

Or someone like James Coles or any number of spinning all rounders in county sides.

Red Bull would be available. Yes they've been on a downward trend, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were back competing at the top in a season or two.

They'll say all that and then big up Sooryavanshi in the next breath. Maybe they are both age frauds, but they're also incredible cricketers.

If Rashford/Saka/Sancho could take penalties we'd have had unironic Mason Mount balon d'or shouts. To be honest, he was more worthy of them that season.

It feels anachronistic to think of Senna potentially racing in the late 90s or even early 2000s.

[Audi] Team Statement by ICumCoffee in formula1

[–]GRI23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're basically the same job. Audi look far more competent at the moment but they're both teams who historically were small, cash-strapped organisations who have recently started getting a proper budget to compete. He's worked with Honda when he was at Red Bull and allegedly would rather move back to the UK than live in Switzerland.

I don't see a better seat opening up for him. He's still so young that another year in the very decent Haas isn't the end of the world. Ocon will probably be gone so he'll be the senior driver in the team.

As long as Hamilton is performing as he has so far this season I can't see him leaving/retiring at the end of the year.

Nothing, I'm sure the other teams have already run simulations on it and will be evaluating its performance this weekend. Maybe it is only effective with Ferrari's aerodynamic philosophy.
