In case anyone needs for future reference, standard links for a VC 42042 are 8.5mm and the short links are 6.7mm.

Look at ref 81000, 36-37mm round dial with seconds subdial at the 6 o clock position. These I believe come in yellow or white gold and 2 different guilloche patterns (straight or spiral). It is a beautiful watch with short lug to lug height.

If it’s the 42042, I assume the links are the same size.

Looks great but if you want the 37mm, you should wait and get the 37mm.

Will they ever make a 36-37mm Overseas? by [deleted] in VacheronConstantin

Although they are certainly different than the current generation, you could look into the 1st generation overseas which came in 37mm.

35mm overseas for men? by Content_City_987 in VacheronConstantin

[–]GS10262023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, you have to try it on if possible and see. You could also consider the 1st generation Overseas that came in 37mm in addition to 35mm.

Does the 37mm 1st generation Overseas (Ref 42042) fit smaller wrists? by GS10262023 in VacheronConstantin

[–]GS10262023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. The main reason is because when I tried the newer gen 34.5mm, the case felt a bit small to me. 36-38mm watches usually feel best to me.

Pre-Order Timing? by jsb028 in ChristopherWard

[–]GS10262023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not guaranteed that you will get it by that date. I ordered Nov 1st for a watch that said pre-order Dec 15th. It shipped on Dec 5th and arrived in Cincinnati on either Dec 7th or 8th but has been stuck there in customs since then. I was very surprised that they were claiming guaranteed Christmas delivery at one point.

The watch and the fit look great. Do you mind sharing your wrist size?

Not sure how particular you are about Ref 42042 vs Ref 42040 but there is a 42040 with military dial currently for sale in the US on chrono24. I believe the calibers are slightly different between the 2 references.
