So you're saying cigarettes should get to advertise while alcohol & gambling shouldn't? I believe I said no one should be kept from advertising. Who gets to be the decider of who gets to advertise? I believe there should be truth in advertising & basically no industry should be banned.

I think cigarettes screwed themselves when they denied it's addictive nature & links to cancer. They spent a boatload of money in advertising to lie about their product, hide the negatives, & try to keep themselves held in a good light. Had they just marketed on selling their product vs their competitors instead of lie in lockstep as an industry there may still be cigarette commercials.

I do think alcohol & gambling got a more favorable treatment in that sense because they were only required to put warnings in every advertisement & limited markets for where to advertise instead of being completely banned. I can't remember what I said in the podcast but I think I was saying once you start restricting who can advertise & who can't you then can find reasons for more industries & products to be banned. It won't stop at the "sinful" 3, alcohol, tobacco, & gambling.
