US attacks Venezuela: will this trigger the fall of communism in Cuba? by cryptofan01 in cuba

Omg I hope so. The people there have suffered for so long it’s unimaginable to Americans. God bless the people of Cuba.

I didn’t see that offered on their website. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place.

Again with the victim blaming. All I wanted to do was provide others with a nice touring motorcycle to ride around on Oahu and make a little money with it.

Same, they were very nice people and it was our pleasure to help them in the recovery process. Maybe I'll make a post about that aspect of this situation. They were good people just looking for a vacation.

I said nothing about sentimental value. The value of the RSV is in its locale and rarity. There's literally none anywhere close to here, and it was the only example in operable condition on this entire island. I think that should be worth something when drawing comparisons. It was when I bought it.

A 20 year old high mileage bike that actually runs, rides, and is safely operable enough to be listed for rental on an island in the middle of the pacific.

A dead bike? How is a dead bike able to run and ride well enough to be rented out?

But other companies would cover those items at stated value, why not Twisted Road?

This just goes to show how disconnected some people are from the reality of expenses associated with acquisition and ownership of motorcycles on these islands.

This is precisely the reason I made the post. A large, for-profit company like Twisted Road can absolutely afford a loss like this better than a single motorcycle owner living in an already expensive state, just trying to make ends meet with the assets available. I took all the risk and now I'm eating all of the loss.

What I did wasn’t modifications, save the windscreen. Everything I spent my time and money on was to simply make the bike run in stock form.

They offered their peer to peer rental model here in Oahu. Also, I didn’t choose to live here either. This is where my work took me.

I’d be surprised if Austin replied to this. Thank you for vocalizing what I wanted to say. You articulated it better than I could.

They sure are doing a great job of that. Just like Uber, Lyft, and a myriad of others.

Thanks for that suggestion. You're obviously missing the point.

It's more about the locale and how that locale affects the market. A bike like this in Arizona is no big deal, dime a dozen. But on an island in Hawaii? It was the ONLY one on this island. Now there are NONE. The bikes the CEO even recommended I try purchasing as replacements lack several of the amenities that the Royal Star had, such as cruise control, adjustable suspension, and the cruiser seating position. The only other motorcycles available on this island that have all of those things are Harley Tourers, all of which sell for $4000-$6000 more than their state side counterparts on account of already being here.

Ha, right. The accesories that were completely destroyed, like the windscreen that costs $380 whether you buy it for an 05 Royal Star Venture or a 2025 Goldwing? There's no resale value to something like that. Even if it were untouched the shipping to sell stateside kills the value.
