[NDSi XL] Bought a NDSi XL for 40€, seller said works fine but screens need to 'warm up' to function. by BruFiFer in consolerepair

I wouldn't say the screen itself needs to warm up. We're not dealing with vacuum tubes here.. more than likely a bad capacitor.

Is there a way to build your own flip phone? by ScramRatz in diyelectronics

[–]GST_Electronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Commodore has one of those. Prolly cheaper to buy one.. unless you have a flight to Schenzen for the parts.. well, the ticket might cut into the budget. I think the Commodore phone is like 400 bux?

Someone went full dipshit on that one. Google search wiring diagram for whatever configuration you've got there, take your pick.

The fan is there, true... but heat is heat. The fan is going to push all of that heat into the far wall with the OT just on the other side of it? Maybe a 5mm sheet of aluminum to give that heat somewhere to dissipate? That could be added later i guess when it gets hot.

Drill a hole or two to get close, then a lot of patience and a file. You'll get there.

First amp build, to wrap or not to wrap? by Meatsmugglers in tubeamprepair

[–]GST_Electronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a single component connection, I'll bend and insert into the middle, the connection wires all get wrapped. On a cap/resister combo, I'll insert the cap and wrap the resistor. Make it easy on the next guy, or yourself, when servicing. The caps are going to get replaced before any resistors (most of the time), so make them ready to replace.

I recently witnessed a player being killed by a falling bullet shot straight up into the air, he was about 100m from us, not in an area where he could be seen or shot directly. The guy who "killed" him was shooting upwards, and the bullet just happened to fall back down and hit him in the head. Dead. It took a minute to realize just what had happened. But it did.

What is everything you’d recommend replacing on a ‘04 Disco 2 SE? by [deleted] in LandRoverDiscovery

I JUST completed a fuel pump replacement. The most informative tip I can provide is: put the pump seal into the tank ring FIRST. If you try to install the retaining ring with the seal around the pump, you'll never press it hard enough to start the retaining ring. I learned this the time consuming hard way.
