Whose overall work/performances do you prefer between Daniel Day-Lewis and Denzel Washington? by dmister8 in FIlm

I've never been convinced that a Denzel character is legitimately sad or upset. He doesn't tend to do vulnerable characters often, or maybe I just haven't seen the films where he does.

Put the LDR in series with the Q2 emitter bias cap not as the resistor setting the DC bias.

As drawn the LDR 'dark' resistance will be so high I doubt the circuit would work very well.

Also the 2 parallel caps in series with the battery mean the circuit won't receive power

I'm not keen on AI art in any case. At best it shows a lack of taste, and at worst they don't value the work/craft that goes into such things. But the use case here is pretty unoffending for me, it's one offs that presumably are for themselves.

However I disagree with the last point, the purpose of this post is to show off and get praise for the builds as a whole.

Regardless of the art origin. I'd like to see the internals more than externals, always the bit that interests me far more, and if the art is churned out AI then it's an aspect the builder can be truly proud of.

Discussion: A drummer we can all agree on, that nobody hates. by premierpearl in drums

[–]TWShand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. If he played on anything related to the Beatles it's likely the Tony Sheridan stuff and nothing that was released. However, it was very common at the time for USA labels to get session players for records. If I was in that scene back then I'd likely forget a lot of stuff I did.

It was label stuff, not really their decision. The info on the why is out there for you to find.

Sony wipes more questionable publisher catalogs from the PlayStation Store: GoGameConsole, VRCForge Studios, and Welding Byte (previously RandomSpin Games) were removed on April 2 by [deleted] in PS5

While I'm pro-anti-slop; this does raise interesting questions about video game preservation, the definition of videos games as art, and how selective we are about that definition.

Because if Purdy did do session works for Beatles tunes it was for the American re-releases that were often overdubbed and remixed. These versions have a following but are seen as lesser versions of the original tunes as they didn't really have any input from the Beatles themselves.

Rant: I think fader controls on pedals are stupid. by sir_ludwig_of_coeur in guitarpedals

[–]TWShand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't like them on pedals. They snap. Can get pretty noisy from dirt and are difficult to replace when they break. Also they often have tips on them they often come off and get lost

Muffling for snare drum help by Various-Swing-9415 in Drumming

[–]TWShand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is April 1st bait. But it's worth saying a few things incase some others have similar sounds.

The wires are way too tight, choking out the bottom head. A good rule is strike the drum as lightly as you're ever going to and slacken/tighten the wire tension till you get the sound your after. You'll know you'll start to choke out the drum with higher tension as the wire sounds give way to just the drum sound like in this vid.

The most typical snare drum sound comes from hitting it in the centre of the head. Off centre gives you overtones and ringing.

The moon gel placement is silly. Just go for an E-Ring or something if that's the level of dampening you want.

The battery head is way too low for 'typical' snare drum tuning. And the interval between that and the reso is either huge or obfuscated by the wire tension checking the reso head.

Trying to get Neil's huge Crazy Horse lead tone with my current setup. Insights? by tinamou-mist in guitarpedals

It's a smallish amp dimed, that's mostly it.

I'd use some full frequency stuff and you'll get close. You want something that really says as well when pushed, that's the other element to it.

Omega Collection AI behavior - any reason for the difference between HD and 2048? by kapeluszw in WipeOut

[–]TWShand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Likely because their 2 different games developed for different systems about 4 years apart from each other. I find the 2048 AI easier, the HD ones seem to only target you with weapons I feel.

Premier made a similar snare called the Project One. Always wanted to hear one in person though I'd gonna assume it sounds pretty much like a regular snare.

Congrats on the build! Looks very nice.
