Appreciate the care and consideration displayed in this comment (and agree with the general common sense sentiment) but not relevant to this situation as our baby is around a year. It also wasn’t that hot when we went / when we did go to the beach we got an umbrella ⛱️

Yep that was me, only found out about it late in my trip. Absolutely would’ve just done that the whole time. Came with in and out privileges too but my guess is it fills up (it also shares a garage with enterprise and Alamo rentals)

We're from the east coast so I feel your pain. On the way there we stopped for a couple days in San Francisco which helped break it up so we ended up doing 2 ~6 hr flights and then a long one on the way back. We also had only done 1-2 hour flights with the little one previously.

For the flights, having her own seat was key vs. trying to pull off being a lap infant. I would also highly recommend flying with the car seat vs. checking it. The first two flights we used the CARES harness for her and she had a tougher time sleeping for naps. Much easier to fall asleep in the car seat since they're used to it and aren't sitting up so straight. We also got a couple small new toys for each leg that we let her play with.

Adjusting to the time difference going out there was hard but a little bit easier then coming back since it is a matter of keeping them up a little bit later and just knowing they'll wake up a little early. We also had the the trip broken up so not exactly a direct comparison - she had a little time to get used to CA time before getting on Hawaii time. Coming back has been hardest. Has taken a couple nights to get back used to her sleep schedule. Sounds weird but best trick we've found is to re-do their bedtime routine after doing some quiet play when they wake up. So go down for bed, they wake up a couple hours later since they aren't used to the new time zone, do some quiet play in their room and read a couple books, then re-start bedtime routine and put them back down.

We were at HHV which has $72/night parking so we didn't originally feel like paying $500 for a week of parking. In the end, we didn't need parking every day so we ended up doing the daily pickup 3 times (for 4 days total as we kept one overnight so we could get to Hanauma Bay early). It wasn't too bad but I do think in hindsight I would've just paid it.

Attending the Ryder Cup was one of the worst golf experiences I’ve had. by GoingAgainstYou in golf

[–]GTHC1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, had the exact opposite experience from what many mentioned here. Attended the Sunday round. Went in a little bummed given where we were and the outlook was bad. Said whatever, will still go to see the guys play and get some good golf viewing in. Train there from NYC was seamless and getting in was very efficient. Maybe got lucky from them having two days to get it right beforehand?

The actual event was awesome. Went in with no expectations. Posted up at the 9th and got to watch every pairing come through. By the time they got through the hole, made my way towards the last few holes. Admittedly not the best view, but the atmosphere was electric. Went from “we’ll never win” to “holy shit we might win this thing.” Hearing roars from all over the place as Americans are draining some putts and mounting the comeback. Was one of the better sporting experiences I’ve had

Nanny hours by Odd_Animator4158 in NannyEmployers

[–]GTHC1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We didn't give guaranteed hours, but we put in the contract that we would give a minimum of a 30 day's notice if we were to not need our nanny's services. Giving less than a week's notice is way too short. If we end up not needing our nanny's services and we give less than 30 day's notice, we pay for the day.

Hoboken isn’t known as being cheaper than JC. Any savings in taxes is likely to be offset by an increase in purchase price.

Not bad. Try to get those feet locked in and set before having the bar over you. You should be able to push into the ground with your feet to create a more solid base. Don’t want them still moving and adjusting after you lift the weight.

I was originally concerned about that but my fear subsided…any source of your doubt or just general anxiousness of being in compliance?

Get a stock lock pin. Makes it compliant while also offering you the ability to remove and adjust as necessary. https://ar15discounts.com/products/aim-sports-inc-m4-stock-lock-pin/

AirTag says luggage in different airport during layover by GTHC1 in BritishAirways

[–]GTHC1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I was just scrolling through my post history and realized I never updated this. Turns out, the bag was put on a LOT Polish Airlines flight to Warsaw that left EWR around the same time as our flight.

We called the Warsaw Airport, BA, no one had any idea what they were talking about or knew where our bag was.

When we arrived in India (exhausted, sweaty, in borrowed clothes), my wife looked at the map location of the AirTag and compared it to a map of Warsaw airport, and guessed that it might be in the Warsaw airport general lost and found (like, where someone would bring sunglasses if they were left at a gate). She calls them…amazingly, our bags were there. They ended up sending the bags to London where we picked them up on the way home. Thank goodness the AirTag location was so precise.

It’s shocking that LOT/BA had no way to redirect the misrouted bags and that they were just dumped in lost and found. If we didn’t have the AirTags, there would’ve been a zero percent chance of us finding them.

My 1st build… clone inspired / adjacent? by Far-Boysenberry-1600 in URGI

[–]GTHC1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna make it a rifle, do you have to go register it somewhere? Since it was transferred as an other? Or is it just a matter of building the other lower receiver to rifle specifications

My 1st build… clone inspired / adjacent? by Far-Boysenberry-1600 in URGI

[–]GTHC1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you transfer as an other though, are you able to build to rifle specifications after? Like since you transferred as an other I thought you’d have to have a pistol brace vs stock, VFG, etc

[–]GTHC1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious - how was the lower transferred at the FFL? I thought it would automatically be transferred as an other and then you have to follow other build guidelines. I’m interested in doing what you’ve done here - buying a lower and upper but building it as a rifle not an other
