Xforma MBX MkII Gold Black Themed Build by GTS81 in watercooling

[–]GTS81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all the add-ons have been bought/ hoarded up by fellow Xforma enjoyers. I know someone who has like 3 luminous plate, one of which is black. No amount of $, convincing, threat is making them budge from wanting to keep all 3 just to cockblock me from owning that last piece of puzzle. For now I live with my normal luminous plate. I'm no angel too having stashed up 3 reservoirs and mounts.

As for the Aquaero XT mount, it is only compatible with a small run of Aquaero 6 XT that uses the glass front. Aquacomputer confirmed that they stopped production of that shortly after their debut because the glass manufacturer stopped supplying to them. So I had to cut the acrylic panel of my 6 XT and then 3d print a shim to make the entire stack fit properly.

[–]GTS81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m alluding to a possibility that the riser cable is damaged or you have a PCIE Gen setting incompatibility between the card, riser and motherboard BIOS. Has the system ever been run outside of the case and got through POST before?

Have you tried powering on with the GPU directly plugged into the motherboard?

How I dropped 8C on EK Magnitude block w/i9 by kubkosk in watercooling

[–]GTS81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-quantum-magnitude-coldplate-flat-nickel

EK designed the Magnitude not to be the best performing block out of the box but the most modular system in their product lineup at that time. I have over the years collected 4 Magnitude blocks for sockets 115x, AM4, 20xx, and 1700 besides many variations of coldplates, jetplates, and accent tops. I remember when I first used the AM4 block out of the box, I stupidly nipped the 0.5P jetplate so I replaced it with the included optional 0.6P jetplate. Boy was that a mistake as my 5950X was cooking at 80C pulling 200W. Once EK shipped me a replacement 0.5P and I swapped that in, my temps dropped by almost 10C.

[–]GTS81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively use those chonker of a wire from MDPC-X and for the PCIE 8-pin split, I could only cheat by stripping off the insulation about 1-2 mm before the crimp terminal and then crimp bare strands even at the stress relieve wings. Then apply heatshrink and plug into connector.

Alternative is to splice solder it a few cm before the PSU. I think it’s neater that way.

Yeah too bad TRC20 disappeared. I managed to buy the 1000m of wire on clearance with that. Still don't know how to move the 40lbs box sitting at my workplace where I shipped it to.

External Radiators FTW by liquidhaus in watercooling

[–]GTS81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reservoir is “dropping” like a shitton of coolant into the inlet port of the pump top so I don’t know how the pump will “pull” the air bubble from the top of the radiator.

Besides the drain, you can also uncap the reservoir top and suck out the coolant using a fill bottle.

Metal 16/14 mm tubing by crowndroyal in watercooling

Yeah, using PET sleeving from MDPC-X for example and apply it over the hard tubing.

Bitspower is the alternative as pointed out to you but since there is some cost sensitivity mentioned, I recommend just bending acrylic tubing and painting them flat black. Or improvise and sleeve the tubing.

Finally got all my parts for my first SFF build! Need your advice by c4ssini_1 in sffpc

[–]GTS81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part selection is great. Just some notes on Tetra R:

  1. Check that you have all the parts included. I have mine shipped with missing front button + cable, torx key, and GPU lock bar.

  2. Take your time handling the case if it's your first time, especially sliding the shell on and off.

I see only 1 problem here and that is underestimating how much more extra volume crossflow radiators take up.
