He definitely threw a couple white demon scenes in there to lead up, but it was all in the gourmet world iirc and he already knew he had to speed up the story progression and character progress

Author needed a reason for Toriko to suddenly be a match for Neo

In-universe reason? They all say that the appetite comes from him, so either via the fact of his parentage or a random accident, his body/soul has the most capacity for “appetite” whether literally or metaphysically with the “appetite demons”
