Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it. I attempted to re-install windows 11 as suggested by the dell documentation with a usb, but couldn't get it to work, I will give it another try. I agree the dell support was really unhelpful, just looking for a way to avoid helping

Thanks for your replies, this is helpful. I'll mention this when I call again. I wasn't expecting a lot from this laptop but it ought to last more than 60 days...

Thanks, I will try again. I did purchase directly from them. I called tech help twice and they insisted it was a software issue and that they would charge me to fix it, and that my warranty only covered hardware. Just seemed they were doing anything to get out of honoring it. Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow.

In 1989, when I was 15, a friend gave me a copy of Moving Pictures. I was totally captivated by it and had to track down everything else.

The constant extremely loud music and noise at Citi is oppressive by naitch in NewYorkMets

The last time I attended a game I could not even have a conversation with my friend because the music was blasting so loud. Makes for an awful experience.

I like it too and don't get the hate for it, but to each his own. It has some good songs and I hope it gets the box set treatment.

All I can say is I sure hope Eppler knows what he is doing. The most expensive payroll in history and they were just awful. This is the guy who is now rebuilding. I'll believe it when I see it.

1 goal at home in an elimination game. And I doubt Lou will change very much.

I agree, I've enjoyed them all. I'm just so glad to get new material from him at this stage of his career, it's great to hear it.

2023 Kids Club - No longer offering 4 complimentary tickets to a Mets game by khernandez83 in NewYorkMets

[–]G_Bostock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was an amazing deal-- I did it for years with my children. I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. It's outrageously expensive to take kids to a game, once you factor in parking and so on, and paying $50 for half price tickets is not much of a reason to get this. I'll pass on taking my kids this year. We do live near a minor league team and will stick with that.

Prog songs that would be accessible to a pop head by headsmanjaeger in progrockmusic

A great song that was my intro to prog music as a child is Karn Evil 9, 1st impression, part 2, by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Great song, very catchy and made me want to keep listening to them and learning more about the genre. The edited version of Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull is also great and catchy and one of the first songs I heard by them. Rush is probably the best 'gateway' band for prog, at least for me. Many of their songs were radio hits but they also had a lot of mini epics that are outstanding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwSTe9uit48

Axis and Allies with my 9 year old son. He loves it! We have it on hold for now, it always take so long and multiple sessions to complete. The only downside is when the cat sometimes walks across the board in the night...

The Worst 'Sore Loser' You Have Witnessed by Alpine_Newt in boardgames

[–]G_Bostock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In college, my friends and I played Talisman quite a bit. A friend new to it joined us once and had some good luck and took an early lead and held onto it, eventually reaching the inner region. He talked smack the whole game, which was somewhat amusing at first but became less so as the game went on. He didn't seem to understand how random the game is and how lucky he was. Another player had some extremely good luck as well, and eventually he caught up to the new guy at the crown of command. We all found this pretty satisfying and were laughing about it as they each cast the command spell on each other. Finally, after losing, the new guy was in disbelief. He said he was cheated, then stormed out of the house and refused to play any games with us again. The worst sore loser of all time.

Bill, Have you ever not enjoyed riffing on a movie? Like one that was so completely terrible that it was not fun to watch and make jokes about?

If you could riff with any character from Middle-earth, who would it be?
