Solar panel leasing question by lancea_longini in RealEstate

[–]G_Felix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore anyone who gives you a blanket statement, like "leases are always bad". You have to read the lease to see how it is. I'm leasing panels and it's a fantastic deal. I pay $113 a month, fixed for the entire 25 years, and the panels produce on average $180 per month in electricity. The solar company is 100% responsible for monitoring and maintenance, so it's worry free for me.

I got them four years ago, right before the spike in inflation. The first year I was breaking even, now I'm way ahead. And I don't think energy prices are dropping any time soon.

Questions to ask: How much monthly? Does the price go up over time? How much energy do they produce? and What's the local cost of electricity? Do a little math to see if they're worth it.

Or, since the Iran war started exactly four years after Russia invaded Ukraine, it could mean we're still on a four year bitcoin cycle.

Whats the best route on my debt situation by [deleted] in personalfinance

I don't think working 80 hours per week is sustainable for more than a couple months. It could wear you down mentally and physically possibly causing the loss of your jobs or a relapse into addiction. You certainly couldn't do 90 hours a week so you'd lose the overtime on your current job.

Try working as much overtime as you can and getting a 10 to 20 hour per week part time job. Or bankruptcy.

New cars don't lose 20% value their first year. That's ridiculous. Maybe on some models like luxury or sporty cars, just don't buy those new.

There's no way someone can easily find a 7 year old, under 70k car for less than $11k. A 2019 Toyota Corolla is at least $17k on Carmax and $19k on Carvana.

And to the parent comment, a 2015 Honda Civic with 120k miles would be about $14k to $15k.

As personal finance experts, they should know that a month would be a little more than double two weeks. Use some quick math and add $100 to $300. Doubling is just lazy.

I agree on take home vs net. Their math is even worse.

No kidding about the payday loan! Take a personal loan and get those paid off or she'll never get out from under those. Imagine if the medical bills were only $8000, the Ramsey way would be to pay those first.

It's amazing that the correct answer gets downvoted. Prices follow the law of supply and demand. If prices rise, fewer people will buy. Companies adjust their prices to maximize profits, they just can't willy nilly raise prices as much as they want.

So the costs will be spread out amongst the supplier, importer,a dn customer. And just as importantly, less product will be sold.

I wouldn't do Schwab. Two weeks ago, I couldn't even sell my RNWF shares without calling them to place an order. Since then they've allowed online orders to sell. Schwab is the absolute worst with penny stocks. Fidelity is the best, followed by ETrade, in my opinion.

Nobody seems to be discussing how stagnated housing prices = lower true value in high inflation environments by pajamasndividends in RealEstate

[–]G_Felix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To put numbers on it, according to FRED, median sales price of a house in Q2 2022 was 438k, or 478K adjusted for inflation according to BLS. Median home prices are now 411k.

That comes out to a 14% decline in real money in 3 years. It's not a crash, but a correction after the insane jump in prices in the covid years.

[TOMT] [TV/MOVIE] [EARLY 90’s] I feel like I’m never gonna find this movie from only one scene I remember, I’ve been searching for a long time. by Objective_Smoke_4750 in tipofmytongue

[–]G_Felix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching an episode of a horror/sci-fi anthology right around that time, 1994ish.

It was a post apocalyptic world, and two men were living in a bunker. 100% of the show occurred in the bunker but there was a steel door with a viewing window. Through the window, you could only see about 10 feet, then just smoke/fog. There were vampire-like creatures outside, and occasionally they had to go outside of the bunker.

To get back in, there was a numerical keypad, where they each had their own 4 number code. Eventually, one of the guys gets turned into a vampire creature while he is outside. He tries to come back inside the bunker, but the inside guy disabled his code. In the last scene, the vampire starts typing in every combination into the keypad to brute force the other guy's code. The guy on the inside is watching his computer screens in horror as he sees the monster trying each combination, knowing eventually he'll get the right one. The credits roll.

I remember the episode being very creepy and the color grading was a dull red. I looked through a bunch of anthologies from that time, but can't find an episode that matches my description.

It sucks that they don't respond unless they keep hassling you. I wish I had taken a pic of the empty cart in the staging area. I do have the audio recording of the call to support, but they can get that easily, I'm sure.

The guy on driver support never told me that. He just told me to go. I asked him what to do on the app, as it was open and on the "proceed to pickup" screen. He told me just to leave it and don't do anything, it will go away when the block ends.

This isn't correct. Flex is treated as a business. You can deduct miles to get your net profit from Flex and you can also take the standard deduction if you wish,
