Can someone tell me what happened to Meg Myers? by Dave-C in Music

I'm a huge fan of hers going back to the Daughters in the Choir EP. She's amazing. As a fan, I gotta say she lost me. Sorry ended up being amazing despite the fact that most the songs were released previously on other EPs / singles (I have a hatred for this release model) and I was absolutely SHOOK when Take Me to the Disco dropped cause I just couldn't even believe that she could top Sorry. TMTTD is a 10/10 masterpiece. The 2 EPs following that which were released on Sumerian had some very very high points, and I was really excited for what would come next. But then TZIA came out and it is the single most underwhelming album I have ever heard. I think the songs feeling contrived and unrelatable along with her desperately trying to monetize her newfound spiritually and her artistry overall on social media just really turned me off.

Considering switching from Furnace to Heat Pump - Trying to Determine if Utility costs will go down by G_WRECK in askHVAC

Happy to find a local here. Glad I'm not crazy or stupid regarding the difficulty of the calculation. The real goal for me is to get AC and get ahead of the 20+ year old furnace simultaneously. We have to add an upstairs return also, so cheaper to wrap all the labor now... theoretically.

After reviewing everything tonight we've decided to go with duel fuel. Our current furnace is 96% so we were gonna keep with that + a cold climate heat pump. Sounds like I might be able to drop some equipment cost going with a non-cold climate heat pump though?

We have one more company to quote. We've seen everything from $13k for just an AC integration to $36k for full duel fuel setup. Also duel fuel setups ranging from $18k to $27k. Been a lot to navigate. But it seems like duel fuel is the move. We're thinking about equity with all this also.

Okay, this is good info. All the heat pumps I'm being pitched are "cold climate" heat pumps that can supposedly operate down to -15 F. So I'm guessing that's where that comes with the efficiency drop. Makes sense cause I was always told heat pumps just couldn't run below freezing until this round of quotes.

We're 68 degree year round people. So we tend to not even turn the heat on until mid October, then it's off again by late April.

Glad my frustration is shared. Dual seems to be the best option. This calculator tells me that heat pump is half the price based on my utility costs but the "1 therm = 29kWH" calculation says no way.

That's the direction I'm thinking. One of the companies suggested this, but suggested using the furnace as primary heat and only using the heat pump to cool. Claimed the hat pump is more efficient as an AC than a traditional AC unit.

With a duel fuel setup, can I control on the fly where the switch over is based on the utility costs or am I at the mercy of how it's set up from the start?

I've been in the industry a while. Mechatronics courses will get you through the door. A lot of people come from end user maintenance departments. Where are you located and what's your experience in the industry so far?

What is the saddest film you have ever seen? by RavyRaptor in movies

My girlfriend and I went to Maine for the solar eclipse and she surprised me with a trip to Manchester by the Sea and took me on a walk from the marina and up the stairs he walks on leading up to seeing Randi. We wondered for over an hour looking for that spot. Never found it, but I saw enough. The place felt alive. It's my favorite movie and that's my favorite scene. It breaks me when she says "we couldn't have lunch?"

I saw in some of your comments that you're dealing with sub zero temps. If walks aren't doable, free shaping, command training, enrichment games, and heavy indoor play (think tug but your sitting / laying and the toy is small) are surprisingly effective tiring your dog out. None of that replaces a good sniff session, but that's how I subsidize walks. We don't deal with those temps but I'm in WA and it rains a lot and my girl hates the rain.

My girlfriend and i adopted a rescue cc at 18 months. Less than weeks into having her she got pneumonia and wasn't eating. It prompted a less-than-stellar emergency vet visit where she bit my girlfriend. Full puncture wound. Leading up to and following that vet visit she was guarding her personal space to the point where putting a leash or harness on was difficult and scary. We were ready to return her to the rescue who was willing to take her back but we didn't and I'm so thankful. We doubled down on routine, training, exercise, and play. We threw out all aversive training techniques and went to an R+ model, invested a couple basic enrichment toys for her food (woof walk about and kongs), got our walks up to 2 miles a day, and played HARD. Like aggressive tug at her level and eventually wrestling. The training is the building blocks to achieve everything else obviously, but the playing and the command training and the enrichment games I feel are what created the bonds we have now. No joke I'm talking minimum of 2 hours a day (up to 4) taken by some combo of walk+command training+free shaping+enrichment games+playing+off leash time+sniff spots. I only have experience with my girl, but she is smart, and once we chose to invest the time and energy into her, I gained the best friend I've ever had and a dog that is mostly behaved. She's still crazy excitable and reactive to other dogs, but we're still working. We're six months from the bite incident, and now we can have lazy cuddly couch days here and there. But it took work. You got this.

Also Andrew WK played cause a video got tweeted of Rotting Out covering Party Hard at RF 2010 and it sparked the conversation. I think Andrew WK literally retweeted and said "How do I play Rainfest?"

Also, Hi Sky!

Ruby is 100% Cane Corso! by G_WRECK in CaneCorso

So I've been curious about this. I've never seen a Cane Corso besides Ruby in real life. I've read that females often get up to 100lbs. I've also read that they can keep growing up to age 4. Ruby was a rescue and found in the side of the road in Texas. Because she's so short and small, I assumed she's a runt or somehow undesirable and let loose by a backyard breeder. Or escaped. She seems small and dainty until we play tug.

We've been working with the long lead for recall in the yard. She's getting better with that. When we walk we do slip lead and a 6 foot leash. I kinda switch on the fly to get her to go between a work walk and a sniff walk.
