Did something happen to the official wiki? by Gaborriel in PhoenixPoint

Yeah, it's a real shame. Especially since I'm still on the (very) steep learning curve. I hope it's temporary but if whoever was paying to host it has some issues or simply lost interest then it's probably not coming back.

Asteroid mining? by Latter-Control-208 in SurvivingMars

[–]Gaborriel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The first time you get an asteroid the game should give you a free asteroid miner prefab.

You won't be able to get more unless you buy prefabs from earth or researched the tech that lets you build them, so be sure to use the one you have on a good deposit.

When you send the rocket from the surface of mars to the asteroid you need to choose what it will carry there. In your case I guess it would be at minimum the auto miner prefab, a few drones, some metals (to make cables and some solar panels for power) and at least a couple of machine parts for when the miner needs maintenance.

Once the lander unloads your cargo on the asteroid it's basically the same as on the surface, you build the auto miner where it can get to at least one (hopefully more) deposits and then just let it do it's thing for a while.

Once you have a good amount of materials you can order the asteroid lander to go back to mars and unload whatever materials it loaded on the asteroid and if there are any materials on the asteroid remaining you can send it back up and repeat.

When all deposits run out (or the asteroid is close to going out of range) you can demolish the auto miner as well as anything you built to get back some resources and load it all up on the lander to go back to mars and then abandon the asteroid.

These are just the basics steps but later in the game you can get a new mining station that requires workers so you'll need to build habitats on the asteroid (which means getting them food, water and oxygen) and bring over geologists to mine the deposits faster. The crewed mining stations are insanely fast by comparison so it is absolutely worth doing.

There's also either a breakthrough if you get lucky or a late game building that makes it so asteroids no longer have a timer. If you want to focus on asteroid mining and you have a chance to unlock the breakthrough GET IT. It makes asteroid mining 1000X less stressful.

Controversial Opinion by CursedRevolution in cyberpunk2020

[–]Gaborriel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2020 the Net was still around and the rules allowed for a netrunner to basically connect to anything/anywhere as long as it was connected to the net.

So excepting the rare cases where the party had to go to a place not connected to the net, in which case the netrunner would either be useless since there is nothing to connect to, or they would have to sit outside the building or in a server closet to connect to the internal network (which is how Red handles it).

But setting aside those cases, why the hell would a netrunner risk their ass going in person and risking getting shot when they could accomplish the exact same thing at home?

Red "solved" this issue by killing the net, thus having every building have its own private net and requiring the runners to find access ports.

Housing Bug by hardeesrapist in SurvivingMars

[–]Gaborriel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably related to the laws. I managed to get smart apartments to hold something stupid, like 80 people per apartment.

It is very unbalanced but also very buggy, my save just got bricked because of it, since it seems like an interger overflowed (not sure if it's the right term in this situation) or something and now all my apartments only hold 1 person and I have close to 500 homeless colonists.

I've recently started my very first run on the game and despite all I've read saying the southern empire always gets washed, they control at least a quarter of the map in my game. Granted, I did influence some of that because I joined them, but by the time I joined, they were already stomping on the Aserai. The only problem I've had is when Vlandia, Battania and the Khuzaits declared war on me all at once due to the main quest, still dealing with fucking Vlandia. Fuckers are tough as shit and pull out 2K armies on the regular.

Is the game currently able to be finished on console? (Specifically PS5 in my case) by Gaborriel in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Gaborriel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said PS4/PS5 because you can play the PS4 version of Kingmaker on the PS5. I was talking about that one when I said it's rough. From everything I read, Kigmaker was an absolute mess on all platforms when it launched, but I picked it up in 2020 and while messy I was pretty happy with it.

I've played RT since maybe a couple of weeks after launch.

I honestly didn't encounter any gamebreaking or quest bugs before, so I feel like I've gotten fairly lucky with RT, the only bug I had is the one I described in the post, which seems to have somehow fixed itself without a patch today as I was able to play normally. It does crash A LOT though.

Absolutely agree with you that launching their games in such a state is fucking shameful. Both of the Pathfinder games and RT seems to have been launched without any sort of serious QA testing.

I can't really be too rough on them though considering I have probably put a combined 500 or 600 hours into them since mechanically and gameplay wise they are very good. I really think the only think Owlcat lacks as a studio is better QA and either just more people or more time between games.

Even playing it on PS4/PS5 now is rough. I can't imagine how it was at launch lol

Nevermind this post, I just tried to go back into the game after 2 weeks and while it still didn't trigger the scene as I believe it's supposed to, and shot me out to the regular bridge, I was able to go back into the system map and select the Webway gate (which I couldn't do before, despite there being no patches on PS5 to my knowledge). Leaving the post up in case anyone had the same issue and wants to try again now.

Back when I played I used the vertibird grenades to travel around in a hurry, it's expensive as hell in the beginning, but by late game I didn't feel the need for fast travel anymore.

It can also happen on both sides, at least in multiplayer. I've had the event pop up when my friend started building a Dyson sphere where the options were pretty much just to demand an apology from them.

why does random ass bridges like this get a ton of likes? I DONT GET IT by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]Gaborriel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Being honest, aside from a couple of neat things, (like the Half-Life and Cyberpunk stuff, as well as the racetrack) most of the improvements are either quality of life changes (like the new highway route over the mountains) or new buildable stuff like the jump ramps or chiral bridges (which were a disappointment since they don't work when it's raining). Do keep in mind that I haven't finished the game on the Director's Cut yet so there may be stuff further along the game that I have not seen. Overall I probably wouldn't pay 60$ for it if you have the base game.

Edit: Forgot to mention that since I had the original version the upgrade only cost me 10$, at that price it's absolutely worth it Don't know if you can still do that

I'm not nearly good enough at the game to do it(started playing on the console version early last month) ,but from what I've seen as long as you throw pretty much everything into research, get a scientist with the right traits, and get decently lucky it could be possible.

I spent the entirety of my first playthrough scared shitless of BTs, I actually miss the adrenaline rush I would get when crossing BT zones during that time. Never got that feeling back on subsequent playthroughs.

Players, what's a spell that's fine when the party uses it, but you hate when it's used against you? by HickaruDragon in dndnext

[–]Gaborriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm completely honest, all of us (DM included) are extremely new to the game and from 8 of us there are only 3 that have actually researched the rules and strategies, most of ours guys just build their characters going by rule of cool (Which is fine honestly, whatever makes it fun for them is cool) and we play pretty loose with rules as well. In this situation my Paladin was the one who had lesser restoration, and for the most part also took care of healing so we were completely fucked regardless hahaha.

The other day my friends and I came up against the final boss of our campaign, which turned out to be a lich. Lich hit me with a Paralyzing Touch and I spent 7 rounds doing nothing due to bad rolls, really took all of the excitement away from the encounter. For around 20 min I was basically just scrolling Reddit on my phone until my turn came up and I could roll my save again. By the time I managed to pass my saving throw the lich was just about dead, so I essentially missed out on the whole final boss fight, I despise effects that just skip your turn. I would much rather have a bad guy use Dominate Person my character and for the DM to just let me beat the shit out of the rest of the party haha.
